Ben Carson on "volatile" past, trying to stab a friend
CBS News ^ | 10/25/15 | REENA FLORES

Posted on 10/25/2015 9:33:09 AM PDT by jimbo123

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson, in defending against criticisms of his relaxed demeanor on the campaign trail, opened up about his past "volatile" behavior during an interview that aired Sunday.

"I have plenty of energy. But, you know, I am soft-spoken. I do have a tendency to be relaxed. I wasn't always like that. There was a time when I was, you know, very volatile," Carson told NBC News. "But, you know, I changed."

The retired neurosurgeon went on to explain that "as a teenager, I would go after people with rocks, and bricks, and baseball bats, and hammers." He also spoke about the time, at 14 years old, when he "tried to stab someone" -- a well-known story of Carson attacking a friend during an argument over preferred radio stations. He missed: the knife hit the teenager's belt buckle and snapped.

I’m with you. Dr droopy eyes makes my deception radar beep like crazy. We already elected a black man with no father in his life and a mother who abandoned him. How did that work out? Carson’s mother was depressed but to a child it still felt like abandonment. Can we please find a product of a two parent family who didn’t smoke pot all through high school or attempt to murder someone?

It was already in his books. It is not something new.

He is trying to show how far he came. Maybe as inspiration.

It’s new to the millions of voters who haven’t read his books.

I have a visceral feeling about him that is not good. To me he does not appear to be as he seems.

Well that is OK. I am personally a Cruz supporter.

But let’s not get so picky and divided that we end up with Hillary.

LOL, I’m a Trump supporter. However, I’ll not vote again for the lesser of two evils. I keep getting pulled into that (McCain, Romney) and won’t again.

I did note vote for McCain or Romney but I will take Trump, Carson, Cruz, whomever because we are in far deeper doo-doo than ever before as a country.

Please reconsider.

Another federal nanny state Potus will remove the America we knew from the playbook. Possibly never to return.

Isn’t it interesting how CBS and the other major media outlets are so curious, and actually LOOK into Ben Carson’s early life? They didn’t bother doing anything like this for Obama.

The wife just told me that there was a movie made about Dr. Carson’s life. Called, Gifted hands, Dr. Carson story.

I didn’t even know this. Makes me respect the guy just a lil bit more.

I can’t help but like him.

Ben Carson grew on the dangerous streets of Baltimore. And as someone up the thread mentioned, HE'S already addressed this in one of his books. He grew up, and overcame what most young men of his neighborhood could not, educating himself, and excelling in his chosen field.

I have not ONE doubt that he would excel as President, as well.

Something tells me that you didn’t look very hard...

“As he inches closer to the prospect of a presidential campaign, Carson used a conference call to try to address questions about his loyalty to gun rights. Skeptics often point to a statement the neurosurgeon-turned-conservative-activist made in 2013 to conservative talk-show host Glenn Beck, who asked whether people have the right to own semi-automatic weapons.

“It depends on where you live,” Carson told Beck. “If you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I’m afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it.”

the time, at 14 years old, when he "tried to stab someone"

Even at this young age he showed tendencies toward surgery.
