Ben Carson says he's soft-spoken now -- but he hasn't always been so calm.
"As a teenager, I would go after people with rocks, and bricks, and baseball bats, and hammers. And, of course, many people know the story when I was 14 and I tried to stab someone," Carson said Sunday on ABC's "This Week."
"You know, fortunately, you know, my life has been changed," he added. "And I'm a very different person now."
Carson's comments came after Donald Trump, his leading opponent for the Republican presidential nomination, said at a rally in Miami on Friday that Carson has even less energy than Jeb Bush, who the developer has repeatedly called a "low-energy" candidate.
"Ben Carson is super low energy, right? He's super low," Trump said. "Super low energy. We need tremendous energy. We need tremendous energy."

Yes!
Uh, say what?
Yeah, I didn’t know that Psycho Ben.
Once Dr. Carson decided to run for office, his good name was sure to be tarnished. It’s a shame, but that’s the game of politics, especially for a Republican.
Somewhere else, in response to Trump, Carson also said:
>>> “As I’ve said many times, there have been many times where I’ve operated 12, 15, 20 hours, and that requires a lot of energy. Doesn’t require a lot of jumping up and down and screaming, but it does require a lot of concentration.” <<<
If only he’d stuck with that response...
A Democrat like Obama can talk openly about how he was headed down the wrong road as a young man, and the media will commend him. But a Republican must be careful of every word he speaks.
I’m not a fan of Carson being President for many, many reasons, but his childhood is not one of them. Carson has long discussed that he was WAY on the wrong path as a VERY angry child and that his mother straightened him out. To me, this is a plus, not a minus, that he had parenting powerful enough to turn a potential gang-banger into a brain surgeon.
And the “malpractice” issue is a non-starter too. This is a neurosurgeon who performed as many as 400 surgeries a year, every year of his practice, and a surgeon to whom the most difficult cases were referred, including cases that other doctors had botched, and yet Carson has had only about a half dozen malpractice suits during his career, and this in a ridiculously sue-happy society.
Who has this potential to damage, Carson or Trump?
I suspect you mean Carson, because he seems profoundly repressed.
Not a fan of Ben Carson, but a handful of malpractice suits in his long career is not bad. I don’t think that will sink him.
Absolutely Carson would damage the country.
Leaving sponges in brains, leaving people half paralyzed after performing unnecessary operations, dunno, I think it’ll hurt him.
“Bat guano crazy.”
Who?
You?
Trump?
Carson?
That only happened a couple of times.
Give a brutha a break.
“I have from the beginning believed that this man has the potential to be even more damaging than Obama.”
Based on what?
This seems like the game of the Rhinos—first, take down all the other Republicans (think: Cain); then, with only Trump and Jeb left, push Jeb as the candidate of “reasonableness”.
Expect more attacks on Carson.
I agree fully with your post. Carson is to be commended for overcoming a difficult past, and the malpractice thing is also nonsense.
The main reason that I would never vote for Carson is that he does not have the faintest beginning of a vestige of a clue about the Second Amendment.
While I’m not a Carson supporter, you have to go back and look at how he grew up, a mentally ill mother, told he was learning disabled, stupid, lived in the projects.
The man pulled himself out of all that to become a leading Neurosurgeon.
I can admire that. But he is to left for me. Nor do I like the fact he wants vaccines to be mandatory. When many of them should never have been marketed. Gardasil is one of them.
I’d take Cruz or Trump at this point. What I’m waiting for is who their VP choices are going to be. I want to see Lt. Col Allen West who we know is a good conservative in at least Sec. of Defense if not VP. We have to repair our Military.

“I say again, Ben Carson is a dangerous man bordering on sociapathy.”
And you want to be taken seriously?
Get rid of Carson. Trump and Cruz take the primary handily. That ticket is a landslide in the making.
