Ben Carson has plowed past Donald Trump in a second poll of Iowa voters released on Friday.
Carson wins 28 percent of likely Republican caucus-goers in Iowa, according to the Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register poll, while Trump gets 19 percent.

Well, how are you going to explain away these back to back Iowa polls showing Carson taking the lead - and in this one fairly convincingly? A media conspiracy?
I expected Trump to eventually slide in the polls, but this happened rather quickly. Maybe you’ll try to “unskew” them!
Some thing or event happened that is causing this. Trump went down the truther road, and it looks like it is biting him in the rear. My guess, expect a whole lot of Trump walking this back and suddenly praising GW Bush for his handling of 9-11.
Either way, Trump is highly unlikely to be the nominee. His shtick gets old and his record of flip flopping, being a Democrat, supporting Democrats up until recently, etc, will probably ruin him once we get closer to actually voting in primaries.
We’ll see, long way to go. This Carson surge may only be a blip, much like Herman Cain’s was last time around.
Post 60 explains why this poll was exclusivity designed for Ben Carson.
There is no such thing as a native “Bushbot” on FR. Only paid trolls who argue with conservatives to try to figure out how to game us.
Well I think you should see it. He begins by saying his last speech there was 16 years ago. He is able to make people laugh and doesn’t hold back on hitting at Obama, who squirms with discomfort through some of it.
He has charisma and holds the stage so to speak.
Your points about his lack of knowledge about foreign governments are good ones, but then how much do any of our candidates have in that dept? If we go down that road we have to say the hildebeast has the most experience there. Gag.
Great post and points,
Maybe Carson has more appeal, other than skin color, than the liar, trump.
I know it’s difficult to imagine for all the trump cultists but there are reasons why people refuse to support the liar, trump.
I prefer Carson over the liar trump.
Carson though misguided in some ways, comes across as fundamentally honest. It’s a nice thought that we could have a presisent who is a truth teller for a change instead of ththe garbage we have now, or the liar, trump.
But as I saisd the cultists can scarcely conceive that anyone wouldnt want to vote for their belovryed god trump.
You're on the right track. See post #60 for the answer.
I have said multiple times....the first polls were decoys to make sure the GOPe’s darling carson ‘wins’ the polls.
They knew Fiorina and Rubio did not have it so the fix is on.
Trump is a cult of personality. A populist protectionists with a few newly arrived at conservative ideas mixed with a bit of nationalism. Most Trumpsters support the man far more than his policies.
I think it's Trump's recent truther nonsense that is probably hurting him, but time will tell.
Trump is unlikely to be the nominee, and IF this is the beginning of a fall in the polls the ride is going to be painful and horrible for Trump cultists. Expect endless invective, flailing, crying, wailing, etc, aimed at anyone who doesn't support Godking Trump.
Naw, even Dana Perino acknowledged Trump won the debate over his 9/11 comments ....
... when Trump was essentially saying that “electing Jeb wouldn’t prevent an attack” in the same way electing Geo W Bush didn’t prevent the 9/11 attacks.
I just guessed that you would be trying to push the meme that “something” had to be pushing up Carson’s numbers in evangelical Iowa... and you are trying to say it was Trump’s comments about 911?
LOL Nice try.
Carson faked his Facebook numbers right before the last debate. Yuge fake out.
Iowans have to be freaked out about Carson’s pro abortion positions and Red State Iowans don’t take too kindly to Seventh Day Adventists, either.
Naw. This is GOPe trickery. Like I said, I’ll believe these numbers about Carson when Carson explains how his Facebook “likes’ surged so fast before the last debate.
Or let’s remember how Rove faked Mitt’s win in Iowa in ‘12.
I believe Carson is a stealth candidate in the mold of Obama, Carter, or Colin Powell. He says a lot of good things, but I don’t see the fire needed to make them happen.
I do not believe Carson could deal effectively with the political wolves of Washington, DC. Carson is not a leader, he is a technocrat. He has little experience with professional liars.
Carson would be in his element as head of the VA or Surgeon General, but not as the desperately needed new leader of the free world.
Several of those questions are complete negatives, and several are ambiguous in valence. Whether they were positive or negative would depend on the respondent.
The poll does include questions that are founded in objective truth, but contradict the trump lies. But that’s tough noogies for the cultists, Dr. Carson really was highly successful as a neurosugeon, no matter what lies trump said about his abilities as a doctor.
LoL the poll was designed with Carson in mind.
“Expect endless invective...”
I do.
The cultists will squeal like pigs.
Remember these are Bush people behind Carson. Reminds me of Bush's push polls in NC against McCain in 2000.
Red Steel wrote: This poll was designed to get Ben Carson ahead of Donald Trump. Bloomberg and the Des Moines Register asked a serious of questions that are overwhelmingly favorable for Carson.
It's a big time push poll:
We do at the lies.
And the years in Maryland before that? Despite the gerrymandering that has taken place in Maryland, we do have a viable Republican party in this closed-primary state. But Dr. Carson also chose to be "independent" here, voting only in the general elections every 2 years.
In post #60, questions 1,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9 are designed to be favorable for Carson. Questions 2 is neutral and question 10 is the only negative question asked about Carson.
