Sadly, I hold out little hope that this article will be read in full, or that the serious question posed will generate many answers. Instead, the author and the poster (and anyone who is also interested - and says so) will be discussed and dissected.

Though, it would be refreshing and honest if some would give a reasoned answer to the question posed.

What, hypothetically, would Trump have to do or say to cause you to stop supporting him?

What would kill my support of Trump? If Trump begain supporting the leftist cause in America, such as maintaining sanctuary cities, and supporting universal amnesty for illegal aliens and unsafe immigration from Syria, , I would drop Trump like a hot coal and sign on with Ted Cruz.

Instead of Trump we will elect this?

Does Leon ask this question to supporters of any other candidates? Why do people still support Hillary after all the dirt that has come out? There are those who would support Hillary even after she is imprisoned.

The "establishment" is running scared. That is what I like most about Trump. He makes the ruling class soil their "big boy" pants.

Why don’t the writers at Redstate ask the same question of the supporters of the other GOP candidates?

I read the article. It is a rehash of all the other talking points Trump haters have put forth here in the past few months cleverly disguised under “The Big Question - What’s he gonna have to do to cause you to not support him?”

Then it slogs down that road by showing all the canned and old talking points for various issues (questions over which one would decommit).

The big lie in this article is the author’s gloss-over and discounting of why some, many, most(?) supporters support him. The author totally pooh-poohs the possibility that we have been driven to him by our own Republican Establishment.

We’re not pi$$ed at GOPe; we’re fan bois, roadies, celebrity hounds and idiots who are more likely to bill and coo over some twerp on American Idol. That’s eventually what all the Trump haters get around to doing - marginalization, derision, trickery and deceit. All because the media and poweratti can’t control the narrative any more.

Keep on keeping on, you paid GOPe social media monkey.

If we had had you and the Internet back in the ‘70s, you’d have been posting against that B-level actor, too.

Allow me to return the favor: What would it take, what would the candidate have to do or say, to cause you to drop support for Bush? Or Rubio?

Good grief!

Walker turned out to be a TURD!

I gave you a lot of slack, you seemed to be a good freeper,
A bit fixated on losers like Walker and Perry, but OK otherwise.

Now. however, I ask that you simply leave FR in peace and go elsewhere!

Leave US in peace!

Take your dysfunction to some democrat website where you will be hailed as a brilliant poster.

BTW: It was the owner of this forum who posted :Go Trump, GO!

I support Trump And Cruz.

Who is it that you support??????????????????????????????
And why??????????????????????????????????????????

if they consider themselves a thinking voter instead of a mindless, drooling sports fan
That describes freerepublic Cruz supporters to a tee.
Oh, and your support for Scott Walker.

The hypocrisy is amazing

I read the article... I am still shocked that Ted Cruz is the most Constitutional candidate we have ever had.. and he has little support. trump has repeatedly come out as a leftist, capital crony master and he has oodles of FR support. Are they... Deaf? Illiterate? Are they Trump trolls? How did FR folks become leftists? Trump has some good sound bites, but we have yet to pay the penalty for our current sound bite master.
They look and sound like the crazed obamatrons from years ago.
I have really tried to understand trump, but I can’t. On issues, he just struggles to lay out details and anything more than headline material.
Just on his business leadership... He brags about the crony rules he can twist in his favor... And he clearly has a price.
I sincerely hope these trolls disappear so we can get back to FR of old.

I’m still ambivalent about Trump. I support his many stances on immigration, taxation and patriotism. But I’m still suspicious of Trumps ‘friendship’ with Bill Clinton. I still don’t know if he’s in this to win or to deflect for Hillary. I just don’t know, but will take Trump at his word for now.

To lose even my modicum levels of support as they now exist, the easiest answer is if he began to show signs of Alzheimers, or showed himself not to be up to the managerial demands of the job.
If Trump had a sudden dramatic weight gain.
If Trump started behaving like Rob Ford or Marion Berry, all of the time: extreme goofball behavior plus getting busting on cocaine or heroin charges.
If Trump began acting snippy, desperate, or angry ALL of the time, like Rand Paul, or Kasich, or Jindal, or Perry before them all. If 90% of what he says is a slam on a fellow conservative, all the while leaving Hillary and Obama untouched of with Kid Gloves, I would lose faith in him.

If Trump had a Love Seat Moment palling around with people like Nancy Pelosi.
If Trump supported Common Core education theory.
If Trump supported Incest, when ‘consensual’.
If Trump changed on illegal immigration and the expectation that these people should assimulate into our culture.
If Trump supported and subordinated himself to Black Lives Matters taking over his stage, embedding his campaign.
If Trump suggested all Christian Churches should remove the crosses and stained glass, so to make ‘other belief systems’ feel less threatened.

If Trump began apologizing for every significant thing he has uttered as an adult, or quickly walking back any bold statements.
If Trump began playing that Biden Game of will I or won’t I stay/be in the presidential race? Maybe I’ll quit and maybe I won’t quit. I will know by XX date. With XX date being repeatedly extended another few weeks.

Typical single-issue voter mindset.

The attitude that has kept the RAT Party out of the dustbin of history and on track to morph into the Socialist/Communist a Party.

I expected better from you.

Sadly, read in full. So relax, your hope is realized.

The whole point of Trump is it has nothing to do with any single statement he makes. He is not a trained seal, like so many politicians, repeating the same canned speech or same tired “talking points” every time he steps to a mic. So many of politicians are nothing more than voice machines repeating what they are told and reading words some one else has written for so long it is numbing. The fact Trump says stupid stuff or contradictory to previous statements is part of the appeal. He is making it up as he goes, being himself in all his unpolished glory.

Honestly, when Trump’s support dries up is when he sounds as coached and polished as the rest of the field.....

After the primaries, Trump will revert to being a liberal.

Trump has observed Cruz to find out what are conservative issues and copied them to try and win the primaries. Then he will go back across the aisle where he really belongs, as a lefty, statist business man.
