A Serious Question for the Trump Supporters
Red State ^ | October 21, 2015 | Leon H. Wolf

Posted on 10/21/2015 2:08:43 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

I have a serious question for the Trump supporters, and I hope they will be able to answer it, at least to themselves. It is a question that every supporter of every candidate should be able to answer if they consider themselves a thinking voter instead of a mindless, drooling sports fan. The question is this:

What, hypothetically, would Trump have to do or say to cause you to stop supporting him?

SNIP

............It’s supposed to matter what candidates think, do, and say. There should be a point with literally every candidate where something they have done would push us over the edge to the point that we wouldn’t support them anymore.

SNIP

Attacking the poster instead of the content is a classic Alinsky tactic. It means you have nothing to refute the content.

Then I suppose you are agreeing with my premise as you didn't even TRY to refute it.

All you did was accuse me of using illegitimate tactics.

I hope your right for your sake, but I have observed this guy for 35 years, and I expect something more akin to Michael Bloomberg than Ronald Reagan.

Your intent CW, is not to have a civil discussion. You post this anti-Trump article, and begin by insulting posters who will likely disagree with you. You “get off” by reading all the emotional responses to you. It makes you feel powerful and reinforces to you that you are the smartest person in the room.
It is my (professional) opinion that you are moving into the arena of cyberstalking. Get some professional help.
I would suggest to all Freepers, that they not respond to this poster, as it is just feeding the obvious dysfunction/obsession.

No, I accuse you of not addressing the sourced facts and quotes I posted. So far, you have offered N-O-T-H-I-N-G, except insults.

Trump can explain the issues and what needs to be done well enough for most people to understand. He can rally the people and is the horse you ride if you want good people like Cruz in his administration. He is also the torch to set fire to the worthless POS dead wood of the Republican establishment that has done nothing but collude with Dems to maintain / share power at the expense of everyone else.

Sometimes -- yes, it may seem unbelievable in modern-day America -- people value certain things more than money.

That's fine and maybe great in the big picture. But in the medium-sized picture Trump wanted to do something greater with that property. And yes he would benefit the most as with all of his deals.

The way I see the country shaking out is there is a hopeless bottomless pit offered by the Dems and a slippery slope being offered by the GOP. The GOP has not stopped the slide into the pit, but has even greased the slope more with amnesty, medicare drugs, etc. We don't know that Trump won't do some stupid stuff too. But we do know that he will make America great. It's not much and probably means nothing to Vera Coking, but right now that's all I've got.

One word, dearie, - Unpredictability.

Unpredictability? That's what you want in a candidate? Wouldn't you rather like to know up front who your candidate really is and what he/she/it stands for?

Exactly, the corrupt old media monopoly was busted when talk radio and the Internet emerged.

Good point. Take Cruz. Constitutional conservative. You realize that the left will shove the constitution up his ass and make him a weak president, right?

I don’t need to answer that which you’ve already decided. Calling his supporters the equivalent of Jock Straps is all I need to know.

"This is all the more true with respect to Trump and his supporters, who allegedly exist because the Republican “establishment” has betrayed them one too many times, thus pushing them into the welcoming arms of The Donald. If betrayal of conservative principles, or strategic failures, or cronyism or whatever it is that caused you to become a Trump fan in the first place, shouldn’t an equivalent sin committed by Trump likewise cause you to end your support of him?"

Excellent point.... Better LOOK before you leap...

Perhaps...then again, it may be the same with any of them, except for Cruz.

I support and fund Cruz, personally. I'm trying to see a path to victory but I guess we'll know more come the primaries.

No, just live 15 miles north of Trump Towers west of the Hudson. Anyone in the NYC area cannot avoid observing Trump for the last 35 years, he was front page of the tabloids. When he was fooling around with Marla Maples while married to Ivana was NY Post fodder. If Trump gets elected, and Sarkozy gets back in in France, that state dinner is going to be uncomfortable.

Calling his supporters the equivalent of Jock Straps is all I need to know have an excuse to avoid the question and the data.

Fixed. Here's what YOU called everybody who disputes Trump's BS:

We’re not pi$$ed at GOPe; we’re fan bois, roadies, celebrity hounds and idiots who are more likely to bill and coo over some twerp on American Idol. That’s eventually what all the Trump haters get around to doing - marginalization, derision, trickery and deceit. All because the media and poweratti can’t control the narrative any more. Hypocrite. Meanwhile, you still haven't acknowledged that the media still do control the narrative, because they give Trump the limelight, use his vacuous blandishments to disparage all conservatives, and starve the demonstrated conservatives of air time. It's a threefer. You just don't see it for all the crying and wailing of crocodile tears.

I think anyone who is a mover and shaker has given some thought, whether serious or passing, to being President.

I think that we're in a time that is a lot like '92. And I think people are searching for that person who comes across with something different. Perot did it in '92. Trump is doing it in '16. Does he do better than Perot? That's yet to be seen.

Honestly, I think we more in a time like the late 60's. Not exactly, but similar. We have re-awakened a lot of the social movement issues of that time. But instead of female equality, it's now LBGT. We have a seen a rise in tensions in black communities much like we did in the late 60's and early 70's. They haven't tipped as severely like during that time, but have come close. We've gone from pro-war in the early 2000's to cautiously anti-war today. Not as bad as the 60-70's, but the support for war has severely waned. Recreational drug/pill use seems to be on the rise again. Young people again have began to be on edge.

I really believe that Trump's success at this stage is a bit of a surprise to him as well to many others.

For now, he's not beholden to the usual groups and money that candidates traditionally have to ally with to be in the game. Will someone from one of those groups 3rd party him if he becomes the standard bearer? I thinking primarily social conservatives who could find his social stands of the past repugnant or they support someone more vocally proactive.
