Sen. Ted Cruz declined to comment in detail Tuesday on critical comments by George W. Bush, saying the former president is simply sticking up for his brother Jeb.
I have great respect for George W. Bush, and was proud to work on his 2000 campaign and in his administration, Cruz said in a statement. Its no surprise that President Bush is supporting his brother and attacking the candidates he believes pose a threat to his campaign. I have no intention of reciprocating.
Cruz responded to a Politico report that Bush spoke harshly of Cruz over the weekend, telling a group of donors: I just dont like the guy.
One donor to the Jeb Bush campaign told Politico that George W. Bush criticized Cruz for sucking up to Republican front-runner Donald Trump and just expecting all of his support to come to him in the end.
In his statement, Cruz did say of the former president: I met my wife, Heidi, working on his campaign, and so I will always be grateful to him."
George W Bush is a big government RINO that expanded government, Wasted thousands of noble lives for nothing started the bailout scam and gave us Obama. Screw George W Bush and he is brother and his read my lips father.

That’s a fact, and that’s the ONLY issue in 2016.
Of the candidates, some will embrace the establishment and others will “negotiate” with it ..... only Ted Cruz will drive a stake through its heart.
Good for Ted. He has nothing to fear from GWB as the LMSM won’t exalt a GWB opinion on anything.
I hate the Bushes.
He was a member of the majority party in the Senate and House for a few years. There was no jobs creation in eight years, for the first time in over 50 years. He doubled the national debt, left on a full blown economic melt-down, and what most people would classify as another great depression, and he still won’t shut up!
I agree with you.
This is what is passed as political news these days?
**************
A former President affirmatively stating that he doesn’t like one of the candidates and considers him an “opportunist”, I would say that affirmation is significant news.
Oh, and I forgot the mention he wanted amnesty for illegals.
DUH!
And HE’S trashing Cruz. Seriously?
When Jebby complains it sounds like a whimpering child stuck in a deep, dark well. You can hear it but you don’t understand it because it’s in Spanglish.
What a traitorous, non-entity.
I hope you don't mean you won't vote for Cruz if he is the nominee.
I’m pretty sure he’d vote for Cruz if he was the nominee...Same as me...I’ll vote for any the republican nominee before I’d vote for ANY democrat that is running...
I also really like Dubya (there has never been a perfect President). My two "kids" were both in uniform during Dubya's Administration, and I always knew that he had sincere concern for those who were serving. I also really like GHWB, and of course not, not, not Jeb (amnesty and common core are not 2016 GOP issues to support. Jeb has no chance of the nom.).
I fully realize that this is politics, and that there is much that I do not know.
That said...can't these two get along?
“can’t these two get along?”
Well, they were “getting along” just fine until GWB had to say he dislikes Cruz. Kind of hard to “get along” with someone who is insulting and disparaging you.
The Bush family disgust me. Bunch of snotty morons.
Yeah, and that is why I didn't vote for him in the Primary in 2000. Bush was always clear that he supported amnesty (he was a good friend of the Mexican President, Calderon, in those days), a 'new tone' (i.e., pretending that the Democrats had an interest in America's success - not just in power), and Big Government (which went by the euphemism - 'Compassionate Conservatism').
But when it came time to vote for President - I gladly chose Bush over Gore.
And I'm glad I did.
Although 'W' clearly belonged in the Democrat Party - he hearkened to an era when the Democrats actually loved their Country (the mid-60s), but had an incorrect vision of economics and the place of Government's meddling into States and individual's affairs.
Sure, Bush overreached in his misguided 'Nation Building' efforts. And Government grew greatly under his Administration - but I still like the guy. He didn't lie - he came in as a Big Government guy, and those were the policies he pushed.
He came in at a time of great turmoil, and he took charge and demonstrated leadership during the difficult days. My primary criticism is that Obama falls on his doorstep. His 'new tone' did not allow him to push back on the lies pushed by the Democrats, and I suspect that they had information regarding Obama's ineligibility to run as President - but chose to sit on it (new tone, and all).
So that said - 'Thanks 'W' for not letting Gore and Kerrey into the White House- but we don't need your political quotes now. We could have used them when your were in office'.
Go Cruz!
Because they believe different things.
Cruz believes that power in DC should come from the consent of the people, Bush believes that people should consent to whatever the elites tell them to. Cruz believes that the constitution is the highest human law of the land, W that the restraints on the federal government obstruct the government from creating a more Utopian society where liberty is traded for peace. Cruz believes in free market choices, Dubba in outlawing incandescent light bulbs. Cruz believes in securing borders and only legal immigration, I don't know what Bush believes, whatever it is he said in Spanish. Cruz believes that government should not pick winners and losers in the market place, Bush believes that propping up losers with a trillion tax-payer dollars is what is fair. Cruz believes that marriage is instituted by God and is limited to how God defined it. Bush believes in attending lesbian weddings to congratulate the couple. Cruz believes that a nuclear Iran is a threat to the world, Bush is still tying to pronounce nuclear.
Those who are in favor of abandoning the rule of law and changing the laws to benefit those breaking them cannot abide those who wish to retain the rule of law.
Once I figured out that GWB had decreased border and interior enforcement AFTER 9/11 and put border patrol in jail for doing their job, my opinion of him changed.
He wanted illegal aliens flooding the country as much as Barack Obama.
I will, IF, he gets the nomination or IF he is Trump’s V.P.
I WILL NOT, however, EVER vote for anyone who is being re-elected, or a democRAT...EVER!!!
“only Ted Cruz will drive a stake through its heart” You should combine that with the Sabo picture of “Ted Cruz Rino slayer”.
I voted for Bush because I felt I had to to stop the dems..
I will vote for Cruz because I WANT TO!
I really want to vote for someone for president because I want to.
