CELINA, TN (AP) A small, financially struggling school district in northern Tennessee has canceled classes until officials can find a way to generate more revenue.
Clay County Director of Schools Jerry Strong said the school board made the decision Thursday night after struggling with budget concerns for three years. He said the district doesnt have enough revenue to pay for partially unfunded mandates from the state.

Reminds me of my son’s second grade teacher (publik screwels).
Couldn’t spell... the second graders were constantly correcting her on her spelling.
Just pitiful.
1. Go back go pencil and paper. No every student gets a laptop or free iPad BS anymore.
2. Kill Common Core; its a money sucker for administrative costs all across the board.
3. Stop building damn coliseums for your football teams! No need fir those million dollar scoreboards.
4. Stop paying extremely high salaries to superintendents who really don’t manage their school systems beyond giving marching orders and being tye face if the ISD
5. Simplify your school menus and stop being a Luby’s Cafeteria.
6. Stop the damn flow of illegal aliens who are raising costs through the roof! Especially when their parents don’t pay back into the system. Most live in rental properties, apartments, or with family members that own homes so they don’t pay proprty / school taxes.

A Middle School parent complained after seeing a school project featuring the Shahada, or Five Pillars of Faith in Islam: prayer, almsgiving, fasting, pilgrimage and creed.
The Muslim religious creed pillar is known in Arabic as Shahada, and in transcribing it, students were instructed to write, Allah is the only God, said parent Brandee Porterfield.
The mother of the seventh grader at Spring Hill Middle said: "They studied Islam for three weeks, but skipped the whole chapter on Christianity because its not in the state standards.
Wichita State U Changes Chapel to Appease Muslims

The marginalization of Christianity is on a runaway train in America. Wichita State University renovated its chapel to accommodate Muslims. In the process, Christian-related objects were removed. The backlash was furious.
In May, workers removed Christian items like the pews, and the altar .. which have been given the boot. And that has not set well with alumni many of whom are donors to the University. Chairs have been set up to replace the pews and make room for Muslim prayer rugs. If they wanted to provide a place for Muslims, why didnt they just give them a separate place? Because Muslims want dominance.
The Schools Student Body President is claiming islamophobia at the people who are upset. The school administration received such a backlash over the decision to change the chapel that now they are reviewing their plans.
Under the terms of Mrs. Harvey D. Graces gift to the university in her will, This chapel will be open to all creeds and to all races of people. Our goal should be exactly what Mrs. Grace set out to do in her gift, to have an all faiths chapel that is welcoming to all religious groups on campus. But they did it for the chillrun...
This is an extremely poor county. No industry to speak of, no revenue. They are still using a Courthouse built in the 1870’s, looks like the stage for “To Kill a Mockingbird”. They have been in violation of a Federal Court order for at least a decade over handicap access to the court. They do not have the money to install an elevator to the second floor where the courtroom is. It is a very sad place.
Actually sounds like a great place compared to the diverse urban shiiteholes every where else.

Not much detail in the article.
Homeschooling and Churches can take up the slack. Better for the kids and a lot less costly.
Apparently the children from this school district would be great journalists. Based upon the title of this article, education not really needed.
The liberal solution would be to bus the kids to other school districts and keep doing that until every district is broke.
Closing government schools is ALWAYS the best solution.
Celina Tn is way back in the hills north east of Nashville.
Real hillbilly country. My mom’s family came from that area and we still have very distant kin who still live there. I doubt if a Mexican or moslem could survive there. Just west of Sgt Alvin York country.
It has been said that people born there have one leg shorter than the other so they can keep their balance in the hills. Glad I was born on the High Plains.
the county commission, which funds the schools, has declined to increase property taxes
Good. The school should find a way to manage their budgets just like the rest of us must. Our district raises property taxes 10% each and every year. I'm paying 30% of my income just to school taxes.
My freshman room mate was from Celina and I don’t think the Celina Schools taught him anything
he flunked everything in his one and only quarter
Nearly every early built courthouse in Texas is still in use. I used to have an office in the attic of ours. That much needed space had been added many years before. My floor divided the top windows in two so it was split between feet level for us and the ceiling of the floor below. Thankfully, my desk was shoved against the window but I had to lean down to look out.
