Lefty Blogger Josh Marshall: ‘We Really Do Want to Take Your Guns. Maybe Not All of Them. But...

“Keep your eyes on the prize” is a phrase widely associated with the civil-rights movement, but Talking Points Memo editor and publisher Josh Marshall implies that it’d be a good one for liberals to keep in mind regarding gun control. In this case, the prize would be, in Marshall’s words, “a society where there were radically fewer guns, where buying a gun meant getting a license…where you had to carry insurance to own a weapon (like you do with a car and most everything else), etc.”

In a Tuesday post, Marshall acknowledged that “support for unfettered rights to guns has grown tremendously over the last generation and politicians in most parts of the country don't want to go up against that. Understandably. But the first step to creating change is to understand and think about…what change would actually look like, what it would mean, what would be ideal.”

Marshall concluded, “Those of us who see the current situation as not just non-ideal but actually a sort of societal sickness need to start thinking way beyond things like closing the gun show loophole…In other words, yes, we really do want to take your guns. Maybe not all of them. But a lot of them.”

MAYBE NOT ALL OF THEM?! MAYBE!? I'd invite joshee to stop by but I'd hate to see him with his panties in a knot if he did. Stay vigilant my friends. They walk the streets.

What would make a real difference would be a society where there were radically fewer guns

But, he doesn't say what the "real difference" of having an unarmed populace would be.

I mean, it's never been tried in history has it? /sarc.

Camel...nose...tent...

How incrementalism starts.

The correct answer to ANY scheme to regulate, or confiscate ANY guns, should be “NO”.

No discussion, no debate, no surrender.

Without the 2nd amendment, we are TOAST!!!

Hey Joshie - make sure you volunteer to be #1 in the first breaching party.

Or are you going to sub that out to those evil LEOs you despise so much?

He's a liar. They want all of our guns. All of them, no exceptions, except for the party elite.

Closing the gun-show loophole (there isn’t one) = Universal Background Checks.

What good are UBCs without registrations?

After UBCs and registration, the nation becomes like NY, NJ, CA, etc. Then look for graduated banning of specified weapons.

“Obamacare is better than what we had before.”

*****

Who said so? Other than politicians, insurance company executives and the stupid and lazy who love free stuff. For most people Obama are has been a nightmare that will only get worse if we end up with single payer.

Also, he's guilty of the Fallacy of Equivocation (in the broader sense). "Cars" are namely not equivalent to "guns."

Insurance may be required to drive a car, etc., but it is not required for the free exercise of any of the rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

Okay,
I’m convinced.

The demonization of myself and My property is to much to bear.

Come and Take it.

I’m sure that is fine with the Hundred Million others as well.

After one of these recent mass shootings a coworker asked me if I was “happy now”...

I had mentioned very casually if even one person had been armed , OTHER THAN THE BAD GUY, we would be having fewer funerals.

***yes, we really do want to take your guns. Maybe not all of them. But a lot of them.”***

We’ll be along for the rest later, Peasant!

We’ve all known this since 1962 when Thomas J Dodd and Emanuel Cellar “We don’t want to take your guns away, we only want to register handguns. Long guns would not be affected!”

They want to take guns from honest, law-abiding citizens and deliberately leave them in the hands of violent criminals.
