This weekend, Chick-fil-A made headlines for the throngs of people in New York City waiting to get into its newest--and now largest--restaurant.
Hundreds of people waited in line all night at the corner of 37th Street and Sixth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan for the chance to be one of the first 100 people to win free weekly Chick-fil-A for a year.
The grand opening was also met with protesters, which included the animal and gay rights group "Collectively Free" demonstrating outside the restaurant.
But individuals waiting in line did not seem to pay much mind--they were there for the chicken.
The fast food chain with conservative values continues to bring in record profits, even during a time when many fast-food restaurants are struggling.
And with significantly fewer locations than many of its competitors, and the fact that all of its locations are closed on Sundays, Chick-fil-As success may be nothing short of a fast food miracle. . .

Well there you go, the reason for the long lines are right there.
Any other fast food company could get long lines if they had a gimmick like this.
And this one near me’s been open for years, and isn’t giving away free food.
Plus in NYC, everyone knew they were giving away only 100 gift certificates, and yet the line I saw stretched around the block.
I agree. But it's not really a mystery. The uncivil, snarky, barbaric left wouldn't work there for $20/hour, leaving the field open for conservatives, who are the polar opposite in disposition.
This Chick Fil-A opened in Manhattan. Just a matter of time before faggies invade the place & stage a mass kiss-in while pelting customers with glitter.
The protesters would rather have weeners than chicken. Bully for them.
Even with long lines, drive thru, etc. they still get you through the process quickly. One
reason is that there aren’t a 100 different items to choose from which has to be made. Cook
the breast for sandwiches, strips, nuggets, fries and let it happen.
All three of my daughters worked there for their first job, so I can offer an opinion as follows:
They have high expectations of their employees and I assume spend time bringing them into their company culture. I also believe that passes on to the customers.
About a year ago, one of the kids in our group left his Ipod in the bathroom at a CFA. We went back about 20 minutes later. It was still there.
You need to get out more. There have been Chick-Fil-A’s in PA since at least the 70s. In the malls only until recently.
They do it thru local churches and the managers look to hire such. Now it doesn’t mean they won’t hire homosexuals or unsaved people but the emphasis is on rejecting any but top notch folks. I know in my area I can walk in and Christian music is playing over the loud speakers. They hire thru the religious organizations when they come inrecommended by pastors and such.
“I want to know how Chick-Fil-A gets all the best workers the fast food industry has to offer. “
That’s easy: No PC HR departments. To be considered a candidate must show moral standing. Good grades, decent presentation, etc. The interview is a real interview and not just “Can you show up?” type questions. They usually require multiple interviews as well. Being selective has greatly benefitted CFA.
The closest one is over 50 miles from us in Tacoma - a road trip may be in order.
The closes we have is “The Big Mary” , don’t laugh
Am I the only one to spot the hilarity in this?
Wait in long lines all night for chicken?
Other than the fact that you couldn’t pay me to eat chicken, even if I liked eating that foul fowl, I durn sure wouldn’t wait in a line all night for it.
they have a winter menu white Chili/ taco soup that is superb and not even close to ordinary “fast food fare”
it is superb
Thank you!
You have a Chick-fil-A!
That’s really simple. You hire managers who are smart, you have a listed protocol of what is and isn’t acceptable, and you run a tight ship.
I suspect that Chick-Fil-A pays their managers more and expects more out of them.
I worked in restaurants for 15 years, and restaurants that are a mess are a result of laziness. You have to run a restaurant kitchen at white-glove cleanliness levels similar to a hospital or military barracks, otherwise you will have waste, insect and rodent infestation, and workers who don’t give a damn.
Too often, especially in fast foods, people at the top have taken the easy way out and dumbed things down so that they don’t have to take the time to train people. they’ve automated things to a degree where no skill is required, and because of that, they pay the lowest wages they can manage to pay, and they get exactly what they pay for.
What’s wrong with you that you’re too good to eat chicken?
Eggs are a marvel in the kitchen.
Chicken meat is fantastic if prepared well.
Chickens in your yard will cut down on insect pests.
