Russias military offensive in Syria is only a week old, but the casualties for American foreign policy are already mounting.
Gone is any slim hope President Obama might once have had about gradually improving relations with Iran, whose military envoys are helping buttress Syrias President Bashar al-Assad while Russia provides air cover.
Gone is any hope that Russian President Vladimir Putin, pressured by international economic sanctions imposed after the annexation of Ukraines Crimea, would out of self-interest pull back from confrontation with the United States and Europe or, as Obama administration officials liked phrasing it, that Putin would take an exit ramp.
Gone is the hope that diplomacy in recent weeks between the United States, Russia and Saudi Arabia might produce a negotiated settlement in Syria and stop the exodus of Syrians fleeing the violence. While Secretary of State John F. Kerry wants to pursue that avenue, another administration official last week called it a pipe dream. And the prospect seems even more remote now.
For Obama, who has faced a series of foreign policy tests, this test is one of the toughest.

“whats the problem?”
Russia’s end game, that’s the problem. Do we trust Putin? Will he start alliances in the ME for eventual hegemony there, then control of oil? Will he bring us to our knees for oil while they plenish their coffers? Would he relish that?
Personally I don’t trust him. And the whole thing is Odumbo’s fault. What a mess he’s created.
Correction: has FAILED a series of foreign policy tests.
Iran...Obama’s new BFF...is laughing his a** off at Obama’s ignorance.
Obama has always made out, and conned the fools who voted for him into believing, that his exalted PERSONAGE would be sufficient to quell any international disruption
We should blow up the oil fields over there. We have enough oil in America to provide for our people.
If Russia is killing Muslims, I cheer them on. We don’t have the balls to take the oil and minerals and aren’t smart enough to be there. We’ve blown trillions of dollars with nothing to show for it. As long as the locals aren’t migrating to Europe or, God forbid, here Russia can takeover that hellhole.
Exactly what freakin' diplomacy has Obama been working on??
This is bozo’s policy not American policy!
Suck it up you jack-wagon. The only good terrorist is a dead one.
100% propaganda.
We got our moneys worth...we got rid of 5 of them for sure. cough cough

The rest of this world, and The Universe, will then live in Eternal peace and Harmony
Russia has had agreements with all the ME countries including Saudi Arabia....who is another of Obama’s BFF.
Condense this article to say Obama’s foreign policy is a abject and total failure unless the goal was to destroy US foreign policy, in which case it is spectacularly successful.
Our money is in refineries.
That really sums it up.
Casualties? Obama’s Middle East policy was DOA
