All signs point to the nation numbing to Donald Trumps shtick. His poll numbers are in a holding pattern and his favorability among Republicans is slipping. His pranks arent as good as they used to be. He isnt tossing out entertainingly insane Trumpisms at the pace he used toor if he is, fewer people are paying attention.
Mr. Trumps ability to command both voter and news media attention simply by being his outlandish, bombastic self is starting to wane, the New York Times reported on Wednesday. The Times points to ebbing social media chatter about Trumps hijinks as well as a dip in mentions and appearances on conservative talk radio shows.
Trumps campaign has lived off a strategy of constant free media exposuresomething he earned, we should note, by expressing many newsworthy opinions that a not-insignificant number of human beings found oddly compelling in a presidential candidate. Thats how he has been able to dominate the race after only spending a couple million dollars of his own money. The problem with Trumps strategy, though, is hes created exceedingly high expectations for himself: Unless he keeps upping the ante of bombast, hes going to see a cratering or even collapse in his media coverage.

Is Slate really this obtuse?
Yes!
Hey Slate: Trump, with all of his shortcomings (which are many) would have to be dead for months before his IQ would drop to the level of your ( not my) president...the loathed Dorkbama the Muslim.
What a bunch of hooie.
Trump has spent, approximately two million dollars this far.
That is chump change, for him.
When you’re directly over the target you get the most flak
He has all the right enemies.
All signs point to the nation numbing to Donald Trumps shtick.
Straw man argument.Pathetic.
So I’m supposed to believe a socialists writing leftists propaganda for a liberal organization. And here’s the real shocker...they want Trump to lose!
Wow, the Left is really getting desperate.
“created exceedingly high expectations for himself”
Really? I thought his campaign was about to implode any minute.
The dumbassess in the media may finally be caching on.
If this is numbing, wait till you see sensitive.
I think some alien pod creatures took over the offices of, “Slate”.
Another hard hitting political analysis by Slate. Their source? Speculative musings by the NYT. I’m convinced, Trump is through!
Hah! Bravado possibly but not money
If I’m Trump, I buy Slate and clear ‘em out.
The New York Times, National Review, etc. write this stuff hoping they can affect reality. They are trying to create a “belief wave” that they hope will ripple across the nation. They are just that stupid.
Salon is really getting worried. LOL!
That’s some serious Donald Derangement Syndrome!!!
They’re used to being able to stir their cauldrons of ink and do that.
Now Donald is breaking all the rules.
Perfect, Donald is not.
Effective, that’s another story.
Wishful thinking by the Libs...
