The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is looking into a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Poona after linking the outbreak to imported cucumbers.
The CDC reported the outbreak has impacted 732 people from 35 states as of Tuesday. Four deaths have been attributed to the outbreak, according to the CDC.
Symptoms include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps that can last four to seven days.

I buy English Cucumbers. Next time I get one I am going to check if they come from Mexico
No telling where those things have been...
Thank God salmonella can’t live in tequila or I’d be screwed.
injecting cucumbers with local water to make them heavier ?
Why is it always pronounced like that??
E coli from human sources;
and eventually incurable by known antibiotics.
No problema, America.
Just keep ignoring this, like Islamic terrorism.
Should have used a condom.
Ick! Do they do that?
I’ve been eating my own home grown cukes. I know where they have been...:)
Crapping in the fields outbreak. Again.
You may as well look at produce as have been floating around in a clogged mexican toilet.
If that doesnt make you want to scrub it thoroughly nothing will.
They do that to many things, including chicken.
Isn’t it a national security problem to get so much food from a foreign country?
I like locally grown but in Phoenix a lot of produce is from Mexico.
When I first went to Japan in 1956 we were ‘warned’ not to eat the vegetables because they used human fertilizer and we were not ‘conditioned’ for same.
(FWIW) I, even at 17 had figured out that enough booze removes that problem - then again, veggies are not on my ‘menu’ as I feel the cows and pigs I eat ‘live off’ vegetables.
THE REAL PROBLEM (which people scoffed at me for suggesting it before) is
You have ‘stoop labor’ picking our fruits and veggies. They are ‘piece workers’, paid for what they pick or pluck.
So, when nature calls one does not ‘walk to the Johnny on the Spot (if one anywhere near), hold it or wear diapers, the ‘easiest’ method is to drop trou and take care of business and if adept enough not even miss a pick or pluck.
As a result of years and years of human waste being deposited in the soil and recycled over the years, OUR systems are not ready for the ‘mixed fertilization’ especially when we don’t ‘allow’ kids to eat that ‘pound of dirt’ we all grew up on.
I may be wrong but it makes much more sense than anything these ‘doom and gloomers’ can come up with.
What about those worms?
It’s the reason we scrub produce with warm soapy water. Everything from Mexico gets an extra thorough scrub.
