In an interview with Fox News Latino, Rubio, a Florida Republican, said that he didn’t think Trump’s offensive remarks about Latinos would alienate the electorate from the GOP. At the same time, he said, Trump has to be held accountable for his controversial comments and positions.
Rubio expressed exasperation over the billionaire’s antics, and said the election needed to be focused on substance and details about what policies a candidate would push and try to implement if elected president.
“He’s going to do what he’s going to do,” Rubio said. “This campaign is about serious things.”

What the heck is body checking? Trump is in this to win it for himself - not be a stalking horse or place setter for Senator Cruz. It’s absurd to think that he would spend countless hours traveling across the country holding rallies, going on every tv show that he can and spending his own money to elect Cruz. If this is what you mean - it is delusional.

I think what they mean is that Trump acts as a sort of shield for Cruz.
If Trump wasn’t in the race right now, all the venom would be hurled Cruz’s way.
This doesn’t mean that Trump is trying to do this. It’s just a natural side-effect of him being the primary target right now.
It’s a decent observation.
Trump is in it to win it. I have no doubt he will be taking it to the opposition all the way to the primaries and caucuses.
