RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Officials at the South Carolina Emergency Management Division say Beaver Creek Dam at Wildewood will fail soon.
SCEMD says they are initiating a controlled breach to relieve pressure and prevent further flooding.
Residents in the area will be contacted to begin evacuations of the lower regions at Beaver Creek.
Officials note that the evacuations are not mandatory. Anyone who evacuates the area would have to go to A.C. Flora High or make their own arrangements.
“I cannot help but wonder if maybe this is Gods punishment for the desecration of the Confederate memorial and flag(s).”
No, that was called reconstruction.
The worst is about over, but will take a while to get the water level back down.

Sounds like you’re going to fare better than NC did with Floyd. Parts of eastern NC were under water for weeks.
Multiple Dams Failing in Richland County http://www.wltx.com/story/news/2015/10/05/breaking-force-evacuations-forest-drive/73396450/
There are reports that dozens of dams and levees are failing, and more will go as the rivers crest in the next day or two.
Prayers for all.
This reminds me of the great Missouri River floods of 1993 and 2011. You could see it coming, but really couldn’t do anything except pack and go.
The one in 1993 lasted four months.
Then you know about private dams.
They determine these “500-year-flood” rates by sediment deposits. These are actually only good estimates based on 2-3000 years of data because of CLIMATE CHANGE!!!!

Which reminds me........
The rain it falls upon the just,
and also on the unjust fella.
But mostly on the just because
the unjust steals the just’s umbrella.

This is just one of many, many situations and the roads are so bad you can’t just send trucks and equipment everywhere, there are hundreds of breaks in roads that have to be fixed before anything can travel the length of them again.
I wouldn’t doubt that this administration will drag its feet on cash and/or tangible help.
I seem to remember several years ago people in Pennsylvania has a major drinking water problem and the Feds had water already on the truck en route to central PA, when...they were ordered to turn back!
They realized it was a ‘red’ state and left the people twisting in the wind. Little to no national coverage about it of course.
Nikki Haley was a fool to think giving in to the real racists and removing the CBF would ‘make them like us’. Her political career will forever be tainted by her ignorant, senseless move.
Music for times such as these.

Oh' yeah, he's ginning up his POTUS voter base from .01 % to .02 %
I'm sure he will be on his knees very soon sucking up to Obama for taxpayer cash... : ^)
Isn’t much of a foundation under that road. Looks like they just dumped the asphalt on top of the dirt and rolled it.
:-)
In what is known as the Wildwood section. Just off Polo Road.
I have driven over that dam countless times. My mom attend church about 1 mile from there.
