Washington (CNN)Donald Trump said Saturday that had teachers been armed at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, the deadly shooting there this week would not have been as tragic.
Trump has previously cited mental health issues, not guns, as the biggest cause of shootings in the U.S. But his comments on Saturday are his most extensive and emotionally charged about firearms since he launched his campaign in June, as he spoke about his personal gun ownership and elicited his biggest applause of the afternoon in discussing gun rights.
"By the way, it was a gun-free zone," he said at a campaign event in Franklin, Tennessee. "Let me tell you, if you had a couple teachers with guns in that room, you would have been a hell of a lot better off."

Agree. Trump is fighting for, and saying, the very things we’ve been begging Pubbies to fight for/say....like illegal immigration, standing up to the mess 0blama has made, vowing to repeal 0CommieCare, vowing to take care of our military and our vets...and on, and on.
That’s why I wonder if these anti-Trump obsessed posters/mockers are truly *conservatives*, or even belong on this forum. I submit an important topic of consideration is, what does it look like when God answers a prayer. Does He always send a fairy godmother with all the answers at the wave of her wand? Or does He sometimes show what solving a puzzle His way looks like, with all people involved having skin in the game? (Which means that agents that are tangibly less than perfect, and yet blessed to be capable, will appear in the scheme.)
That happens a lot, on the Trump threads. These supposed Cruz - or other candidates - supporters primarily seem attracted to Trump threads where they bash EVERY single thing he says, or does.
Funny how they just can’t stay away from the Trump threads....it’s like an addiction, or something.
If their candidate is so wonderful, you’d think they’d stay on those threads singing his/her praises.
I don’t see Trump supporters going on to the Cruz threads bashing Cruz, obsessively (like a few *other candidate* folks do on Trump threads). Makes ya wonder if they really have a dog in this hunt.

Yes, that is what I would like to see in these situations. In real life, the CHL population in any state is small. In Texas less than 2% of the population has a CHL. In college populations my guess is the percentage is even smaller as many students are not eligible because they are not 21 years old. The likelihood of a college campus having even one CHL per classroom is small. The statement that having a dozen students in a class room armed if concealed carry were allowed on a campus is ridiculous on its face and has got to come from one of the left wing lunatic “thinkers”.

The point is that an equilibrium is allowed to form between defenders and would-be attackers. More attacks, more people start going around armed. Silly no-gun zones only frustrate that process.
But guns will make teachers violent, and they cause global warming.

However when allowed to honest people, guns tend to produce climate change. Crime finds it distinctly chillier.
I really have to differ with you. People who chose to carry weapons or are required to carry weapons, don’t just go out and buy a weapon without a clue how to use it, and then just start shooting randomly when faced with a threat. There is just no point in carrying a weapon if you don’t know how to use it, and no one would. An armed society is a polite society.
