U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson said he favors committing U.S. ground troops to a multinational military coalition that would enter Syria and create safe zones for refugees fleeing the war-torn nation.
Johnson, a first-term Republican, spoke Friday at Madison-Kipp Corp. in Madison, at an event to mark Wisconsin Manufacturing Month.

Johnson said he doesnt know how many U.S. ground troops would be required for the effort. Russias recent involvement in the region may complicate it, he added.

Johnsons Syria stance puts him in line with other hawkish GOP senators, including Republicans Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and John McCain of Arizona, who also have called for U.S. troops in Syria.
Graham also is a presidential candidate. Another GOP presidential hopeful, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, also spoke Friday in favor of a ground coalition to create safe zones in Syria.

Join the Kurds and wipe out the Iranian mullahs and ISIS.
No.
We should have picked our own cotton and used our own oil
Worth noting. He also said this on 60 minutes:
“If you look at Syria. Russia wants to get rid of ISIS. We want to get rid of ISIS. Maybe let Russia do it. Let em get rid of ISIS. What the hell do we care?”
You, McStooge and Linda go suit up and lead the charge, Ron. Idiot.
As long as the U.S. Rules of Engagement for our soldiers make them sitting ducks for terrorists, murderers and others, we must allow any of our soldiers to be in any battle arena and must return those who are currently in harm’s way home immediately.
How about the Arab nations doing their own lifting and taking in the refugees.
Oops, I meant must NOT allow our soldiers. . .
Don't need middle east oil any more. Best bet is the next President backs up Israel, reprieves the Reagen doctrine of out-teching our military beyond Russia's capacity to respond, build up missile defense in Eastern Europe, let Turkey go, and use our superior home grown hackers to have at the CHICOMS.
Our CINC is an enemy agent.
And just exactly what would our fine troops do on the ground there (especially while Russian bombs fall from the sky ). Just curious
Was wondering what throw away idea they’d come up with to take conservative eyes off of their votes in the senate to defund Obamacare, Planned Parenthood, and Amnesty.
I’m all for Russia taking out all the bad guys and restoring order to Syria. The issue will come if/when Russia has to go into Iraq to prevent ISIS operations taking place along the border. The ground troops may be needed in Iraq.
I do find it strange that I’m cheering right now for Putin. But hoping he prosecutes that war hard to bring order.
Sounds like it.
The dumbassedness is contagious, it seems. Linda and McInsane are dying to put on their army helmets and move little plastic army men around on a map of the world, while making bombing sounds and machine gun noises.
Their egos can’t handle Putin cleaning out the infestation. So far, he’s doing it right. If it is radical islam, bomb it and all things around it. When in doubt, bomb it. Trump is right, once again.
Trump has also said he would use ground troops to take out ISIS if nothing else works.
Regardless of what others stack onto this thread, Trump is exactly right. Wars never end without boots on the ground walking door to door and cleaning out the vermin.
Won his seat with Tea Party help. And caught Potomac Fever within a day of being in Washington
Syria is not worth the life of ONE American soldier.
Period.
Johnson, McCain, Graham are nuts and should be treated accordingly.
I think someone warned about this...
When G_d was passing out brains, this guy thought He said, “Trains” and he missed his.
“Yeah, I don’t have any idea how catastrophic this could be for tens of thousands of Americans, but let’s go for it.”
