In its Men's Style section, The New York Times recently published a somewhat ridiculous, liberalism-infused article entitled "27 Ways to Be a Modern Man." While a few of the 27 ways made some sense, many of them were so soft-handed and weak that one wonders if the article was meant as a joke. Sadly, it appears that the writer was serious:
When the modern man buys shoes for his spouse, he doesnt have to ask her sister for the size. And he knows which brands run big or small.Does the modern man have a melon baller? What do you think? How else would the cantaloupe, watermelon and honeydew he serves be so uniformly shaped?
*snip*
Well, if a modern man is supposed to be a mushy, fashion-conscious crybaby with a melon-baller, then I want no part of it. It's far better to be a real man. So what are the traits of a real man? There are many, and this list isn't comprehensive, but it should be a good start.
A real man:
Has integrity. If he gives you his word on something or shakes on it then you can put it in the bank. A real man does what he says he's going to do.Treats people with dignity and respect. He adheres to the Golden Rule: treat others as you would have them treat you. All people get the same treatment, whether he needs something from them or not.
Respects women. For a real man, chivalry is not dead. He will open a door for a woman, give up his seat for a woman, and never, ever abuse a woman.

However my husband does know how to tear the hear out of his victim and eat it.
My bride (35 yrs) insists of dragging me along for furniture purchases...”do these go together”. “ I dunno”. Hell my sox often don’t match. (Let alone shoes)
I lived as a single guy in my own apartment for a solid decade before we met. Anything I bought was strictly utilitarian. TVs, stereos, tools, firearms and cars were the only thing I was fussy about buying....and none of them matched. I would ask my, at the time, current sweetie to help me pick out suits for a job interviews..... After that I wore jeans and a t-shirt and plane khaki pants and collared shirt for work (if required).
What does my wife wear? How the he!! Would I know.....she looks nice and I don’t know why.....nor do I care to know why.
Has the whole male race lost their Ba!!s???
Men need to be in the company of men. They need to know how to treat women correctly, stand up for what is right and do the right thing, even if it costs them.
The more heat you have the more impurities (dross) are burned off leaving only the essential elements. The same is true of precious metals. There is an old saying "The gold is refined when you can see your reflection in the molten metal."
Ok, maybe I am compensating for something.
They say dynamite comes in small packages.

Ref Post 8....Seems we have a big contradiction there.
In the article, #9 on the list says:
Understands the gun. He respects the pistol and rifle, and he knows how to use them safely and effectively..........
OK, WHICH ONE IS IT?
All in all, not a bad list except for the “white knight” crap.
Guess I’m not a modern man.
Didn’t read the article did ya? I didn’t either. But I skim, therefore I am. It is an article about an article. It gives the bogus man (original article)vs the real man (critiquing article)
Ewwww.
Couldn't have said it better.
Someone sent this to me yesterday.. It isn’t even witty. One minute of life wasted. Could have been freeping..
Other than the 10 Commandments, i should have said :)
Any man who claims to have known Woman to ANY extent whatsoever who would ever attempt to buy her either footwear or a “purse” on his own judgement is actually lying about his experience with the fairer sex or is a hopelessly egotistical ass.
Typical NYT. /spit
Great advice! Writing it down now!
