Republicans ought to be demanding an end to progressive taxation in this country—a flat tax at minimum, with a potential move down the line to a consumption tax eventually if that can be done. We shouldn’t be settling for a simple whittling of tax brackets from seven to four. And we absolutely shouldn’t be exempting anyone from federal income tax while we have such a tax at all. We have far too many people in this country who don’t vote like taxpayers; how do you think a no-talent hack like Obama managed to become president?
The hope had been that Trump would broaden himself during this campaign..... What made Trump interesting was the possibility that, as a businessman, he would apply clear-eyed fiscal analysis and technological innovation to the leviathan and show the way for a 21st century model of government...
...that simply hasn’t come to fruition, and at this point it doesn’t look like it will.
And reversing himself 180 degrees on taxes during the Pelley interview, after once again extolling socialized medicine, just shows that he’s not the guy.
The Democrats are flat on their backs in this cycle. When their first debate finally rolls around on October 13 it will become clear that none of their candidates could even survive at the GOP’s kids’ table. We have the opportunity to present the American people with a candidate who is unapologetically, nakedly, and provably conservative—and aggressive about it—and win in a rout reminiscent of at least 1968 or possibly even 1980..
We need to move on and vet the rest of these people. Trump is taking up too much oxygen.

After Trump’s bluster about sending them all back (that he now says he will bring right back in) you’d think that giving over 50%+ of American NON-taxpayers (which will include most of those now legal immigrants) the ability to vote for the party giving out goodies, would not have seen the light of day, but it did (and so did the magnet of universal healthcare).
So much for that big bad border wall that Trump said he would build to protect you.
I liken stuff like this to someone stepping in quicksand. The more you struggle, protest and wiggle about with your underwear in a bunch, the faster you sink.
Likeable or not, the man is the focus of an irate anger with establishment Republicanism in addition to the general distrust our government has earned. Attacking, or stealthily nitpicking the specificity of what he produces (when, I might add, the only specificity we get out of Bush, Rubio or that ilk is in Spanish and about amnesty and citizenship).
In healthcare - his proposal is too expensive, how are we gonna pay for it? Who’s gonna pay for it? I remember here years ago many here were saying we’d be better off just giving these so-called poor people health insurance and leaving everything else alone - much less cost that having all these exchange middlemen thieves in the mix, too.
On the tax pro0posals, it might be just too early to say. Many hate it because it is from Trump - Levin apparently loves it.
The one big thing that tends to make me shut down when reading critical articles of him is the urgent advice like “move on and vet the rest of these people. Trump is taking up too much oxygen.” My response to Mr. McKay is “what’s stopping you, fool?” Somebody tied your hands or give you a pencil that only writes ‘Trump?’
This article, so painfully obvious and transparent in its intent and disingenuous in its mission statement, is why all the TDS inmates’ bleats fall on deaf ears.

Get over it already. You take the American Spectator, and Bill Kristol as its head, to create a sour grapes posting. Kristol has said publicly that he will vote third party if Trump becomes the nominee. I guess he missed that issue of the Loyalty Pledge.

My initial glance at Trumps Tax plan suggests that my 2 person middle class household will save about $10,000 in taxes annually. As we go forward, I’m sure those numbers will firm up and we’ll all have a better idea of how his tax plan will pan out for each of us. I’m just gonna’ say though, if you vote against an extra $10,000 give or take/year in your pocket, you’re a world class moron.

Let’s point out the GOP is fully funding Obama high tax policy along with Obamacare because its terrified of being blamed for shutting down the government.

The fact that they are throwing everything (including used aircraft carriers) at Trump is at least pause for concern.
For the Trump Haters, here’s the bottom line:
Without Trump in the race, Team Bush will spending spend millions beating up on every non-democrat until they are out of the race, or split enough votes where Bush wins with 20% from mostly crossover voters.
Is the Trump tax plan the best? I’d say no, as I don’t see a problem with the IRS that a wrecking ball couldn’t solve. (Translation: I’m for repealing the 16th Amendment). But at least he’s proposing the biggest tax cut, and the biggie: repatriating corporate dollars back penalty-free.
Oh the heck with it. I’m gonna grab a cup of coffee and watch Ted Cruz give that killer speech on the Senate floor.
Much to the chagrin of McKay, Trump will get done what is do-able.Sure a flat tax would be ideologically more in line with what conservative Republicans now want, but given the economic situation it would not be doable without cutting huge swaths into government and the military. Yes by all means a flat tax, but now is not the time.

but i dont like anybody paying no taxes. The math shows that a 5 percent tax on these people would bring in another 100 billion dollars.
Plus they get goodies too.. SNAP, maybe rent help. They’re not contributing at all.
I am not thrilled with a progressive tax package.
But that 0 dollars in taxes for those making little will bring in a lot of votes.

If that's the case, then maybe he should stop yapping about the wonders of universal care in Scotland and Canada and quit bragging about how un-conservative he is on healthcare...and stop saying "I'm going to take care of everybody." Who is he? Mao? Castro?
