It’s a good start, maybe some of the other candidates will now get real on reducing taxes and getting rid of deductions and loopholes for the few at the top.

A number of the other candidates have already put forward tax proposals, including ones that do not rely on "progressive" taxation and "soaking the rich" - both concepts very popular with the Left. Carson and Cruz have both supported a flat tax; Huckabee is a supporter of the Fair Tax.

They “support” Flat and Fair Tax plans, now maybe they will provide details, Cruz has nothing on his website, Carson has no plan just says he is against what we now have and Huckster has no details on his Fair Tax Plan not even the rate. So great let’s rid ourselves of the IRS and high taxation with a Flat or Fair Tax but until any of them give details on ‘their’ plan it is just politicking.

If you are saying Trump’s plan is “progressive” and that it “soaks the rich” maybe you could provide details to back that up, otherwise aren’t you just politicking too?

Trump’s plan is much much better than what we have now and it is not just smoke and mirrors politicking.

Yes.

NOW, abolish minimum wage, federal protection of unions and the tonnage of useless and wasteful and costly dead-end regulations, and we’ll be on our way.

You won’t have to worry about “fair” trade and tariffs because with those things in place, the market economy will be free to roll like a juggernaut.

Next: CUT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT - BY A LOT!!!

Trump's plan is progressive - it has 4 rates that increase as your income goes up. That is the definition of a progressive income tax. And Trump has said repeatedly that one of his goals is to eliminate loopholes and deductions used by the wealthy to make them pay more in taxes. Trump is not going to claim that the wealthy will pay less in taxes - if that happens, then the difference would have to be made up by the middle class. His plan lowers rates, but eliminates deductions, causing a much higher portion of income to be taxed - resulting in a net tax increase on the wealthy.

*barf*

pretty much what every liberal has been wanting for decades.

The rich pay more and more, the poor and middle class pay nothing.

He just hid it behind new words “evil hedge fund guys” instead of “rich” or 1%

Cruz is and Trump will never make it. I like Trumps in your face style and the points he brings up but I’m not seeing him as the nominee.

Plan: flat tax — a system where every taxpayer, regardless of income level, pays the same tax rate and abolish the IRS.

Please provide a link to his posted, detailed plan.

I saw a link, earlier today, that had some of his thoughts....from back in April...with a promise to abolish the IRS and to be coming out with a detailed tax plan within the next few weeks. Again, that was April.

If you do have a link for his detailed, posted plan, please let us know. I may have missed it.

Also, let’s see how that abolish the IRS *red meat* works out. I agree...who wouldn’t love to see that happen? Back in Realville, that has about as much chance as Ron Paul had abolishing the Fed.

One bite at a time. That’s how Trump’s plan will shrink govt....and govt agencies.

That’s what has the Left, the RINO’s and, for some reason, a few here, so freaked out.

The “wealthy” will pay 25% max (20% on long term capital gains and dividends). The current top income tax rate is 39.6%. The wealthy will not pay more and those paying little (less than middle class) will no longer be able to get away with that via deductions, great!

What rate should the millionaires and billionaires pay? Do you want the wealthiest to pay less (rate wise) than the middle class? If your answer is just Fair Tax or Flat Tax, neither is going to happen in this election. So let’s get real here.

I will take lower income taxes for everyone and no one being able to deduction themselves below what middle class have to pay because of loopholes. I think the lower income workers should pay some income tax too but Trump’s plan exempts them.

You are talking about marginal tax rates, and I am talking about effective tax rates. If you lower the marginal rate, but eliminate deductions, you end up with a higher effective tax rate (the amount they actually pay). That is a tax increase.

What rate should the millionaires and billionaires pay? Do you want the wealthiest to pay less (rate wise) than the middle class? If your answer is just Fair Tax or Flat Tax, neither is going to happen in this election. So let’s get real here.

If we want to get real here, the chances of Trump's proposal getting passed is not much better than the Fair Tax or a flat tax.

I will take lower income taxes for everyone and no one being able to deduction themselves below what middle class have to pay because of loopholes. I think the lower income workers should pay some income tax too but Trump’s plan exempts them.

Your statement is self-contradictory. You say you want lower taxes for everyone, then say you don't want high-income people to take deduction to lower their income taxes below what a middle income taxpayer pays. But if that higher income person is already paying less, then you obviously want his taxes to go up - right? So you really don't want lower taxes for EVERYONE. And if everyone actually paid less in taxes, the plan would not be revenue neutral, which would explode the deficit and the debt.

Bait and switch.

Yes he is lowering the tax rate, but he is also illiminating some deductions.

The net result will be higher taxes paid by the rich, and more people who pay nothing. Which is what liberals always want.

No thanks Trump!

No specific detailed plan but this is what he wants to do. The detailed plan Trump puts out is means nothing unless 1). He’s elected and 2). Congress gives it to him just like any other candidate. Promises mean NOTHING but if I’m going on hope it’s what Cruz wants overall not just taxes.

Personally, I’d eliminate all social programs including Social Security (yeah phase it out not all at once) and every other federal agency except defense. I’d like to see Congress convene twice a year for 1 - 2 weeks. Any member of congress is limited to one 4 year term and lawyers would be banned from any public office. Everything else is up to the states to control.

Other than the no tax liability of singles of $25,000 nor the joint couples of $50,000 NOT contributing to America, I like what I see. Appears that Romney had it right with his 47%. No, I wasn’t a Romney supporter.

Oh really and where did you see Trump said all the deductions would be eliminated and any group of taxpayers would be paying more taxes than they are now? You are speculating to be negative, I will stick with what we know now which is lower taxes for every group and no more free ride for those who use IRS loopholes to pay close to nothing. AND no I don’t want someone earning millions or billions to pay less tax than the middle class. Let them pay their fair share. If someday we get a Fair tax great, meanwhile I support this tax plan.

Dear God, do you even bother to read what your own candidate puts on his website???

"With this huge reduction in rates, many of the current exemptions and deductions will become unnecessary or redundant. Those within the 10% bracket will keep all or most of their current deductions. Those within the 20% bracket will keep more than half of their current deductions. Those within the 25% bracket will keep fewer deductions. Charitable giving and mortgage interest deductions will remain unchanged for all taxpayers."

...no more free ride for those who use IRS loopholes to pay close to nothing.

So those people will be paying more - in other words, they get a tax increase! By your own logic and Trump's own words, taxes will increase on higher income earners. Why do you try to deny in one breath what you confirm in the next?
