A hospital has apologised after an RAF sergeant was asked to move out of sight of other patients in case his uniform caused offence.
Sgt. Mark Prendeville, who has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia, was at the Emergency unit of Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kent after fire extinguisher chemicals got in to his eyes during a training exercise
Aircraft engineer Prendeville was relocated twice by hospital staff who said his uniform might upset people because we have all kinds of different cultures coming in.
The 38-year-old was dumbfounded to be told on two different occasions to stand out of the view of other patients. He was wearing a camouflage combat uniform.
63-year-old Jim Prendeville, who also served in the armed forces, said he was disgusted by the way his son was treated.
One of the staff asked him if he would stand around the corner so he wouldnt be seen by other people in case it may upset them because he was in uniform.
He went round the corner not to make a fuss but then another member of staff asked him to move again in case anyone saw him because he was in uniform.
He said 'why should I move', and they said because your uniform might upset people, we have all kinds of different cultures coming in and you might upset them.
The way they treat our servicemen - theyre willing to put their lives on the line and theyre treated like lepers when they go to A&E.
The sergeant, a father-of-one was treated for the chemicals in his eyes and prescribed drops. He is expected to make a full recovery.

That doesn't sound like a native Brit
It does sound more like a sensativity to a migrant population over native raised.
Dang ! That's what is happening in this country among the Libs/Dims/and Commies.
See what happens when you don't have native language, culture, values, and borders !
My first thought, also, was to Post “Tommy”.
Kipling nailed it, as usual!
Great post!
MSNBCs Chris Hayes Feels Uncomfortable Calling Fallen Soldiers Heroes

Its Memorial Day weekend, an important time to reflect on the sacrifice of those who lost their lives serving the country.
But on MSNBC today, Chris Hayes admitted he feels uncomfortable about doing that.
Hayes observed that in much casual conversation about war and fallen soldiers, talk of heroism often comes up, and he doesnt necessarily think thats a good thing.
I feel uncomfortable, about the word because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war. Um, and, I dont want to obviously desecrate or disrespect memory of anyone thats fallen. But it seems to me that we marshal this word in a way that is problematic.
Michelle Goldberg, columnist for The Daily Beast, argued that the reason hero comes across as a loaded word is that it implies they died in the pursuit of a worthy endeavor.
Guess we have about a handful of ‘great minds(think alike)’ on this link...<: <: <:
I read the headline, started on the article and was arguing with myself over posting “Tommy” in its entirity or just the link.
R Kipling has ‘nailed it’ on most of his works.....
It’s sad that it takes full blown world war every 30 years to keep people’s minds right about the evils in this world.
“That doesn’t sound like a native Brit “
Of course not. We know the species of sub-human persons they are talking about. The world is becoming infested with them.
Ok. Chris Hayes. Let’s get rid of the military and round up the folks willing to fight for whatever cause the congress finds appropriate
Then we would be able to judge those returning from war as good or bad depending on what they’ve chosen to do
Until then our military signs up to obey the orders from those whom the civilians like you, Hayes, votes into office.
But let’s just get rid of the military. Hayes, what are YOU going to do with a gang of decapitatots in the lobby of your upper east side apartment building you’ve armed your doorman to unsuccessfully defend you against?
The people on their side won’t call you a hero even if you put up a fight
But they would be here without our military, which is, by the way, constitutional
Chris Hayes
Maybe some of those different cultures could stand to be a little upset if they don’t appreciate what’s being done for them.
If I was her I’d keep the boyfriend and lose the friend.
That will be us if we don’t take PC by the throat along with Don Trump! This is England, right? I wonder how many Brits are applying for immigration to US cause their country is so messed up?
A lot of the staff in “English” hospitals seem to be of the “Asian” persuasion these days...of course any real English will be upsetting to them and their majority clientele! It’s their country now, after all.
Well, She’s a smarty, so she’s losing the friend
I just hope she gets some of that liberal nonsense she got from classes in English studies at university into perspective as well
I know the boyfriend couldnt care any less about the musings of the ignorant
When people can’t figure out the foundation of our country, the tenets of a standing defensive military, then the abuses put on it by our current congress whom the citizens, even the uninformed liberal coeds, they have to be ignored or hopefully informed
The voting public is in charge of the military via the congress whom they elect
They want to change that and get rid of the military, even the constitution, they still have to live with the results. But so do the rest of the citizens. There’s the conflict
Yes, he often did. Much reviled by the literati, but he spoke to the heart didn’t he? I used to have an anthology of his works that my grandmother gave me, but it was lost to water damage.

Even now available on your phone.....Amazing....
Shame a good number of those that really know how to ‘work these contraptions’ don’t have a clue as to what they are ‘missing’...
Admittedly I wasn’t a ‘fan’ of talking books, much less books on line but when it comes to art, literature etc the ease is there.
Finishing my 24 celcius year, I will have to call this my ‘Spirit of ‘76’ Year....
Further proof that one can learn something ‘new’ on a regular basis.

;-)
Kipling’s “Just So Stories” are brilliant esp for the young grade schooler.
Boys love this stuff.
