Yes, he often did. Much reviled by the literati, but he spoke to the heart didn’t he? I used to have an anthology of his works that my grandmother gave me, but it was lost to water damage.
Of all the "bones of contention" I have against the Disney organization, the biggest is how they have robbed the children (and adults) of the world with their insipid version of the Mowgli stories as portrayed in "The Jungle Book".
They have also, in effect, hidden away the rest of the stories contained in the First & Second Jungle Books. Such a loss!
