I think the mortgage and property tax deductions definitely spur housing sales or they’d be even lower. These gen Xers can barely afford a house as it is.

I agree. The bottom 50% are the biggest tax consumers via "entitlement" programs. If the entitlement leeches are paying no taxes, perhaps their entitlements should be reduced in proportion to the taxes that won't be collected.
He says those people can send a one page form "I win!". That should reduce the IRS personnel in addition to reducing taxes.
