It’s an excellent plan, but the FAIR tax is even better.

RE: Trump Plan Cuts Taxes for Millions

But increases them for Millionaires. That’s what the Democrats in Northeast always propose.

This is mind-blowing. What a difference this kind of thinking would make if we were to elect this guy. Not only is he talking about lowering taxes for most and eliminating loopholes for others, but he's talking about cutting all unnecessary government spending.

I could think of a better plan (see my profile for my reverse-progressive plan) but I know I'd never get traction with that. This is a plan that most people can sign on to.

The only thing I don't like about it is that low income families pay no tax. Then take away their voting rights too. I think everybody who votes should be a stakeholder.

What about the mortgage deduction....and deduction for property taxes...

I guess I can live without those for a overall tax cut and a simplified tax code.

Maybe they will have a fire sale of those 16,000 shotguns they brought for IRS agents....won't need them when the IRS is seriously downsized.

Note to Trump...prohibit Feinstein's spouse (Mr Bloom) from getting the exclusive contract to sell off unwanted IRS facilities .

The entire tax plan is already posted to Trump's website.

Is this guy efficient or what?

Trump I love you, but this statement here has problems....

no federal income tax would be levied against individuals earning less than $25,000 and married couples earning less than $50,000. The Trump campaign estimates that would reduce taxes to zero for 31 million households that currently pay at least some income tax

they are not paying taxes now and are getting an earned income credit, someone please enlighten me.

To hell with the WSJ and their stupid pay wall. Can’t we find an article that people can actually read to post on this subject as breaking news?

I wonder if this plan means that if you make less that $50 as a couple, there won’t be ANY federal withholding tax taken out of your paycheck? Or is it the same old withhold now and file to get it back later?

Fewer people paying taxes, but that only makes sense if the plan also eliminates credits and redistribution. Otherwise it just creates a larger class of takers and burdens more the producers. Is the plan tied to significant govt program cuts?

A national retail sales tax would be better - but I’d take this. I think.

Besides being behind a paywall [used google on the title to get to the full article] WSJ didn’t break it down. One has to read the full article for bits and pieces of the plan. It reads like a poorly written, out of order sports article.

Hey WSJ, how about just a breakdown of incomes and rates? Why would they make it this hard to get the important details?

Decent. He's been reading my post about the 15% business tax ;-).

But nothing for low income folks? Does he get rid of EITC with that? Because if he doesn't they will continue to get more back then they put in. But for many to have no skin in the game, I don't get it...

Sounds like the British “plan.”

Eternal serfdom through taxing everything above average at 100%

Trump should have been born in Europe.

um...

so basically, the rich pay more and most pay nothing?

sounds like the same tax plan liberals have been pushing for decades.

This is basically just the opposite of what needs to be done. Everyone should have to pay something in taxes. Otherwise they have no skin in the game and no interest in controlling out of control government spending, since the money isn’t coming out of their pocket.

With this huge reduction in rates, many of the current exemptions and deductions will become
unnecessary or redundant. Those within the 10% bracket will keep all or most of their current
deductions. Those within the 20% bracket will keep more than half of their current deductions.
Those within the 25% bracket will keep fewer deductions. Charitable giving and mortgage
interest deductions will remain unchanged for all taxpayers.

Let me guess what Trump said, in his latest speech:
I’m the greatest
I’m gonna lower taxes
I’m gonna change what people pay
I’m gonna make our system better
I’m gonna help people
I’m gonna be the best
I’m rich
I’m gonna make the rich (except me) pay more

And not one detail as to HOW he plans on doing all of this stuff.

In all of Trumps speeches, not once have I ever heard him talk about the proper roles of government, the proper roles of the three branches of government, the proper procedures for each of these branches, the proper procedures that follow the Constitution, or even mention the Constitution, in general. So forgive me, when I doubt the words coming out of this man’s mouth. He’s tapped into emotion, the same way Obama tapped into it, in 2008. No details, no specifics, just talking points, generalities and platitudes.

No candidate should be given a 2nd thought, if they can’t speak to the Constitution, the role it plays, and how to CONSTRAIN the government within the confines of it. And no one should be given any credibility, unless they can discuss in detail, the path, procedures or plans on which to fulfill their “promises”, unless it is within the confines of the Constitution and the proper roles of the three branches of government.

The ONLY tax plan I would support is a simple FLAT tax plan (10-15% tops).
