Carson: I'm open to considering religion as probable cause for a search of email, phone records
NY Daily News ^

Ben Carson may want to stick to just providing his medical opinions.

The retired neurosurgeon and surging 2016 Republican candidate offered another controversial stance about Islam in America on Sunday, saying that he's open to considering religion as probably cause for searches.

When asked on ABC's "This Week" if he would listen to arguments from people advocating that one's religion could provide probable cause to search the emails and calls of Syrian refugees being let into the U.S., Carson answered in the affirmative.

"I personally don't feel that way, but I would certainly be willing to listen to somebody who had evidence to the contrary," Carson said. "I think that's one of the problems, we get to our little corners, and we don't want to listen to anybody."

"What we should be talking about is Islam and the tenets of Islam and where do they come from? They come from sharia. They come the Koran," he added, diving back into his anti-Muslim comments from last week. "They come from, you know, the life works and examples of Mohammed. They come from the fatwas, which is the writings of scholars. You know, and if you go back and you look at - what I would like for somebody to show me is an improved Islamic text that opposes sharia."

The daily news is an illiterate rag that caters to low IQ liberals who can’t understand words of 3 or more syllables.

Beware of any law that can be used against you. Think of Democrats and RINOs using this against critics

Carson is correct about the threat. That does not make him correct if he thinks we should search the emails of all Muslims because they are Muslim. This is not a police state.

WTF is bad about investigating “refugees” from Syria?

You are right that we should search the emails of refugees before they are let into this country. They threat is great. But it should not be because of their religion. It should be because of the terrorism threat. Search them all. If they have nothing to hide they will not mind.

Why are you criticizing something Carson did not say?

Nonsense. Profiling works. Young Muslim men blow sh4t up. Elderly Christian women do not. These are refugees from Islamic states where 80% of the morons embrace shariah an Al Qaeda. FR is going nutty.

I’m all for letting the Christians in just no Muzzies. Obama says no.

Because I did not read the article carefully before commenting. I should know better than to trust the headlines. Still, if we are going to search the emails of refugees before they enter the U.S., it should be based on the threat of terrorism alone. Yes the terrorists are Muslim. Still this is America. We search based on the threat of terrorism and not based on religion. Getting that wording right is vitally important. Otherwise the terrorists can just say they are Christian or agnostic to gain entrance. Criminals lie. Investigate them all.

So they could just lie and say they are not Muslim in order to gain entrance. These creeps have criminal minds. We should not even take their word on it about religion. Investigate all the refugees.

Otherwise you are saying we expect they will say “yes I am Muslim but no I am not a terrorist.” We expect they are lying about being a terrorist. Why is to stop them from lying about being a Muslim in order to not be searched?

I already read it. Go Carson! It’s time to start profiling Muslims.

> If this ever happened, it would ONLY be used against Christians. But they will trick Christians into pushing for this.

i think most Christians wouldn't be duped into this but then again I didn't think they'd re-elect the Muslim Manchurian Candidate again either...

I do believe that followers of Islam should receive elevated attention. Things they do that don’t indicate a problem in the general sector can mean a problem with them.

It should be checked out.

I hate this idea and I think Carson is out-of-his league for the Presidency, but come on, his quote does not match the title at all.

No worries. And yes every refugee from any Muslim country should be thoroughly vetted. They are after all urged to lie to the infidel by Mohammed.

As much as I despise Islam, religion is not probable cause.

As long as we can't identify the enemy we will be at a disadvantage. Most talking heads know very little about Christianity or Islam which makes their contribution to the discussion dangerous. The two religions have zero moral equivalence.
