Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum vowed Friday to pursue immigration policies that protect American workers, while warning voters that some of his GOP rivals have embraced a much softer approach to the issue. Mr. Santorum, the runner-up in the 2012 Republican nomination battle, urged the crowd that converged on a hotel in Washington, D.C., for the annual Values Voter Summit to recognize that a couple of the speakers before him Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz have previously supported amnesty for illegal immigrants. You have a lot of people that come up here and talk about how tough they are, but they actually support amnesty. The speaker just before me running for president, he will tell you how tough he is, Mr. Santorum said, alluding to Mr. Cruz. He offered an amendment to allow people to stay in this country indefinitely. To me, that is amnesty. Mr. Santorum has struggled to gain a foothold in national polling and is running near the back of the pack. With that as a backdrop, the 57-year-old has staked a lot in the immigration debate. He also has touted the conservative record he compiled in Congress, including authoring legislation aimed at changing the leadership of the Iranian government. Mr. Santorum served in the House from 1991 to 1995 and in the Senate from 1995 to 2007 when he lost his re-election bid to Democrat Bob Casey Jr. by a 59 percent to 41 percent margin.

Trump will sent them out much faster. It will be expedited. They must go. That is what he is talking about.
I don’t know, I am having a problem following your point and I am not going to wrestle it out. Trump is against amnesty, the ONLY Republican who has come out four-square against it. No matter what people say about Cruz, he refused to come out four-square against amnesty when Megyn Kelly gave him the opportunity a few weeks ago.
Now, if you want amnesty, then vote for whomever else you like.
If the employment does not work out, the ‘Workers’ are encouraged to apply to change their non immigrant status.
IOW, it is an immigration program that is obscured by the false legalese of the law. The H-1B realities can be easily found on a web search.
In September,2012 Cruz expressly told the NY Times that he supported immigration reform (i.e. Amnesty) and he rejected any notion of self deportation.
I do not have the software to post this but it was documented in Adios America and you can access the link via that route.
It is POSSIBLE that Trump meant to streamline and improve the immigration system when he said “get them in faster”. In other words, fixing the process for all immigrants, not just those previously deported. Which, would, in fact be what Cruz was recommending: fixing the absolutely broken legal immigration system so that greater numbers are allowed in legally.
Right now the people we WANT to immigrate (remember Mohammed Gulab, the man who rescued Luttrell?) have to go through years of ridiculous bureaucracy in order to even get a permanent resident visa. Meanwhile, our tracking system is so broken that guys can over stay their student visas for years and no one notices.
Go home Rick. Just go home.
I see that hollow statement.
Link me to where you praise Trump for getting that much done.
All I see is you trashing the process, no thanks at all.
WTH is wrong with you?
Yes, I want them in the back of the line. Yes, I want quotas to remain the same.
Who has offered those as an option?
Please, give me a name. Just one!
Most of these guys are straight up amnesty supporters and we all know it.
There will be no vetting with them. Every crook will remain here.
Contrast that with a guy that plans to send everyone, including all the criminals home, and keep the criminals out.
Is that the best offer on the table?
Sure it is.
You act as if it isn’t. You act as if this guy’s plan is the worst.
It isn’t. What other game is there in this town?
Really? Because I have just posted links to where he advocated deporting DREAMers and told Romney to fight for deportation—also from 2012.
If this the interview you are discussing, it was not a question of amnesty. It was about birthright citizenship.

We have quotas for the number of legal immigrants that are allowed into the country every year. I believe we meet that quota limit every year. I don't want an increase. So in that sense, we don't need them "faster" and "greater".
And I disagree with Cruz (who is my favorite candidate) for wanting to increase the legal limit for H1B.
No, the question I heard was when Trump had just announced that all illegals would be deported. Kelly asked him point blank three times — would you deport ALL illegals like Trump. Cruz refused to answer, said that was a question that the press would ask, etc.
His position on birth right citizenship is about as murky.
Kindly post a link, because I’ve yet to find one.
Fair enough.
Again, please don't post nonsense to me. I praised Trump to the hilt when he signed on to the Sessions plan.
It isnt. What other game is there in this town?
My top two candidates are Cruz and then Trump.
I have criticized BOTH on illegal immigration.
Both are still heads and shoulders above any other candidate on illegal immigration.
Yeah, someone posted that NY Times story, but I see no quotes directly from Cruz on the really relevant points. It amounts to taking an NYT reporter’s word for it that Cruz actually told him those things.
So I am not buying it, if that is the only source.
I don’t follow you around the forum to get your whole outlook.
I see you on a thread trashing the Trump plan and I call you on it.
Then you tell me I’m posting nonsense to you.
No, I’m responding to nonsense.
If you dislike part of Trump’s plan fine. I agree with you on two points. I don’t see any agreement with his other points here, which we also agree on.
Help those who read your posts to know where you actually stand, rather than reading your posts as simply another hit piece against Trump.
I’m not happy with the prospect of 30 million people flooding this nation even legally. I do think they should have to get into the back of the line. I do think our quotas should remain constant.
Trump’s plan is still by far the most aggressive at turning this around. Sadly.
Uh, this is a thread about Santorum attacking Cruz on immigration. I think there are plenty of Trump bashing threads to be dealt with without having to turn every thread into a Trump thread.
What my wife does and what her opinions are are HERS, NOT MINE. Im sure ted Cruz also knows the difference.
I hope you are right , still a puzzle why his vote for Corker Bill and early support for TTP
Ted Cruz flips on Obama trade agenda after months of support
...WASHINGTON For months, Sen. Ted Cruz backed a critical part of President Barack Obamas trade agenda. But after weeks of taking heat from conservatives, Cruz abandoned his support for Trade Promotion Authority on Tuesday.
I responded to a comment.
Maybe you should be directing your ire elsewhere.
