House Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) who frequently gets emotional during important moments, blinked back tears and wiped his eyes during the papal visit on Capitol Hill today.
Boehner has worked to organize a papal visit to Congress for twenty years of his long political career in the House of Representatives — an effort that finally reached it’s conclusion with Pope Francis’s visit today.

Boehner always reminds me of the comedian Rip Taylor, a regular on the afternoon and evening talk shows. Rip would play an older drunk waving a handkerchief and boo-hooing the most minor of things while taking a swig out of a liquor bottle. At least Rip only played a bawling drunk and was presumably sober when not in the part.
Sloppy drunk rather than emotional pain then? Probably. I actually do feel for people who are crumbling like that from depression. Maudlin in another thing though.
