Sen. Marco Rubio has pulled ahead of Jeb Bush in their home state of Florida following the GOP debate earlier this month, according to a new Florida Atlantic University poll that puts the senator in second place behind part-time Floridian Donald Trump.

Bush, a former governor and political mentor of Rubio's, placed third in the poll, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The numbers break down as follows:

"Marco Rubio being that far ahead of Jeb Bush is surprising," Kevin Wagner, an associate professor of political science at FAU and a research fellow at the university's Business and Economics Polling Initiative, commented. "Some of the early Florida polling suggested that Bush was in a stronger position."

BIG money shift going on. All the supposedly sure big donors are now abandoning Jeb, most probably for either Rubio or maybe Gentle Ben.

“BIG money shift going on”

If Bush can’t hold Florida, the rats will jump ship in a heartbeat.

Like clockwork, !Yeb! has produced another ad in Spanish. That will sure help.

The only thing that is too bad about Jeb Bush is that he ever got pressured into running for President. He’s a disaster. He wants totally open borders and to put all the millions of illegals here in the US on a path to citizenship. Is this what you think a good President would be? Jeb Bush would be a horrible President. His stance on most issues is close to Hillary. He needs to run on the Democrat ticket. He’s not a Republican or even a RINO.

As long as Gentle Ben stands firm he will stay on top of the wave, looks like he will, a very intelligent man, a very good asset to have as an aide to the President. Some people are leaders, some follow and support those leaders.

I can just imagine Carson being on any Apprentice show as Trumps advisor, and explaining in English what he thought of each apprentice candidate.

Does Amnesty Rubio still give pro-amnesty speeches in Spanish to Hispanic groups, while claiming he isn’t so much for amnesty any more in English?

Rubio speak with forked tongue.

Rubio still have stench of Gang of 8 on shoes.

Not surprising. Rubio did well in the candidate forum on CNN. He’s always been the “Kennedy-esque” darling of the gope.

¡Yeb! is not getting an unfair rap, he has earned it by putting his loyalty to Mexicans ahead of Americans.

You must love having your country overrun with illegal aliens.

Thanks. I think it was obvious that once Walker left, the GOPe was really down to two candidates it would support, Rubio and Bush. Fiorina and Carson were merely anti-Trump firewalls, and the establishment would NEVER support Cruz or Huckabee.

No way they will go with Gentle Ben. His truthful comments about the ROP guarantee he will receive no establishment funds.

Together Rubio and Bush are tied with Trump at 31.5. But that means they would have to consolidate their support behind just 1 candidate and get 100% conversion. Not likely to happen. Besides, by the time the Florida primary gets here, Rubio and Bush will both be <5%.
