CAIRO (AP) — An Egyptian official says the Antiquities Ministry has given initial approval for the use of non-invasive radar to verify a theory that Queen Nefertiti's crypt may be hidden behind King Tutankhamun's 3,300-year-old tomb in the famous Valley of the Kings.

There's reason to believe her tomb was found in antiquity (a gold scarab with her name on it was found on the Ulu Burun wreck), and moved, possibly to a cache of mummies analogous to the one near Deir el-Bahri (Theban tomb 320, or TT320); in the 19th century a bunch of grave goods from Nefertiti showed up in the markets in Egypt, suggesting that local yokel tomb robbers beat the archaeologists to the find. TT320 was found by robbers, but the robbers were discovered, arrested, and the cache (more than 50 individuals, including Ramses II) properly excavated and studied.

The Grand Rapids museum has a traveling exhibit on the discovery of KV-62, but my guess is it will be some kind of simulated crap. Almost went yesterday, but couldn’t cut out the estimated 90 minutes to do it. And it’s $18.

"Moses and Akhenaten: The Secret History of Egypt at the Time of the Exodus"

It DOES tie in - Moses WAS a true prince of Egypt - as well as half Hebrew

I (we) stood in line for 7 hours at the exhibit of the real stuff in New Orleans over a thanksgiving weekend

at 5:30, they closed the museum for private viewing by Exxon execs.

the cry and clamor was great. an exxon mukety muck came out and said those remaining in line would be permitted to view the collection

exxon would pay the staff to stay

I saw Ramses I in a museum in Niagara Falls in the early ‘70s and then again at the Carlos Museum on the Emory Campus in Atlanta GA about 15yrs ago. When they realized that it was a royal mummy they gave it back to Egypt. The most amazing coincidence in my lifetime. Ramses I spent about 100yrs in North America and I bumped into him twice.

They didn’t know it was Ramses I until the Egypt authority came over to inspect and confirm. His Royal Highness did a stint in the States as a curiosity.

They should probably leve it be until ISIS is destroyed. Otherwise if they get their hands on the tomb, or it contents wherever it may wind up, it will be destroyed.

Here's another update:First, this tomb has been known for over 70 years; no one had noticed the other two openings during all this time -- which is weird, Howard Carter was very talented at spotting stuff; after Reeves found the apparent lines of the doors, using digital scans (not by going to the tomb), radar should have been used immediately; instead, infrared was used, which wasn't enough for the Gyppoes, so they then ordered radar, back in September, and now are "90%" sure? And they're saying it'll take three months? Get the **** out of the way! We've waited thousands of years for this!
