The GOP establishment is apparently so worried about Donald Trump that its working with Democrats and even Islamists to attack nice-guy Dr. Ben Carson.
By attacking Carson as anti-Muslim, it may be possible to shift some of Trumps evangelical and social-conservative supporters over to join Carsons team, just a few days after Trump told evangelicals that Im one of you.
The GOPs establishment loser in 2012, Gov. Mitt Romney, joined in late Monday, with a tweet saying Of course, no religious test for the presidencyevery faith adds to our national character.
That pro-diversity, pro-Islam slam was quickly backed by one of Jeb Bushs pro-establishment, anti-Trump supporters, Ana Navarro. @MittRomney: Of course, no religious test for the presidencyevery faith adds to our national character. Experienced voice of reason, she tweeted.
By boosting Carson, establishment candidates may hope to split Trumps supporters, and move some of his many evangelical and social-conservative supporters towards Carson. Any subsequent drop in Trumps poll numbers could be portrayed as a populist decline.

Hold your ground, Ben Carson!
And Trump, be sure to back him up!
Trump did say to somebody who asked him about Carson’s anti-Muslim position, “It wasn’t Swedes that flew the airplanes into the WTC, ya know.”
Won’t happen. They will support Carson . . . for HHS secretary.
Attacking him for being “anti-Muslim” is only going to help Carson. And Trump.
And, I’m disappointed from what I heard Ted Cruz say last night on Colbert - he said he wouldn’t bash or answer back to anyone trashing his R opponents. All well and good, but then he said the same about Democrats. That lost me right there - another George W. Bush who refused to stand up for himself and hit back at the Dems.
How shocking. Candidates competing with Trump, the frontrunner, (who has never been a conservative until now), are trying to take away his support. They all must be RINOs. Now these conspirators are pro-Islam, no less.
We no longer are in a conservative-liberal battle, but a battle between the Rep-Dem uni-party rulers and the real people. Awesome - it reminds me of the mid-60’s and early 70’s, when I was in college and law school. The great time of my youth, when we wanted to bring down the establishment.
Thankfully, I’ve grown up since then.
I like Carson more given his courageous and resolute stand against the PC crowd but I don’t think that will move me or other Trumpeters from supporting The Donald. Ben Carson definitely looking more viable as a Veep candidate. He’s shown toughness without abandoning his calm demeanor. He was impressive today answering and countering questions.
Cruz said that about Democrats??? You know, Cruz wasn’t that assertive in the debate when he should have extended some of his answers to get his point across. Everyone else was doing it. He’s too weak.
The uniparty is like a bacterial infection that fights any effort to change or eliminate it while it carries on its work to destroy the host.
I was not happy about that either. Argh!
I see. We can crucify Pat Robertson for being “too” Christian, Mitt Romney for being Mormon, and even Dr Carson for being Christian but if Dr Carson questions a Muslim’s ability to both honor his religion and the Constitution, his bigotry must be punished and he himself has forfeited any right to run.
Thank you, I’m glad someone other than me also heard him say that. I listen to every candidate and what they say - and even when my candidate says something I don’t like - I’ll voice my opinion. I don’t agree with everything Trump says or does, but on the main issues - he’s the best.
Well, that is pretty much my take on it. If we do not win, we get nothing regarding the main issues.
That’s exactly what I said after the debate when people were crying that he wasn’t allowed to answer or was shut off. He was, but he needed to elbow his way in and talk over the mods and others who were interrupting - and he didn’t. He did the same on Megyn - he just smiled and let her walk over him. He’s playing it too safe trying to look presidential and calm. That’s okay to an extent - but that isn’t going to cut it in this election cycle. He needed to elbow his way into that debate and raise his voice to be heard. He didn’t.
Yep, that’s the way it works on the Liberal mind. Sad, but true.
I don’t support Carson for POTUS, but he’d be galactically better than Loony Joe as Veep.
Some here have suggested Jefferson Sessions for Veep. That might be even better. Although, we really need guys like Jeff in the Senate.
This is absolutely laughable. You actually think that Dr. Carson is colluding with the GOP establishment to the point of deliberately making a comment in order to pi$s off Muslims, thereby pulling evangelicals closer, ALL in order to split off any support Trump may have from them??
Are you freaking serious?? For God’s sake, listen to yourselves!
If they are trying this I think its a really poor strategy. I applaud Carson for taking a stand but I’m still voting for Trump. Why have the JV team when you can have the All Stars?
You hear all kinds of fanciful nonsense from the Trumpeters. Everything is a conspiracy.
Funny how the GOPE can be Machiavellian genius super villains and rank morons at the same time.
