Wisconsin's Walker exits '16 race with harsh words for Trump

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Warning the GOP's presidential race has become too nasty, Scott Walker suspended his 2016 campaign on Monday and called on some of his Republican rivals to do the same, citing an urgent need to "clear the field" to help defeat GOP front-runner Donald Trump.

"Today, I believe that I am being called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race so that a positive conservative message can rise to the top of the field. With that in mind, I will suspend my campaign immediately," Walker said in a Madison press conference.

You know how hard I am on candidates. Put it this way, give Trump the benefit of the doubt. If and when he starts actively demonstrating that he's working for the bad guys, that's the time to pounce. Walker's remarks today placed him on the side of the bad guys. I gave him the benefit of the doubt for the past 3 years going back to when I touted him as a draft candidate for 2012, until today. He blew it.

I don’t understand why they denigrate rep voters/ base when they make remarks like this. It feeds right into that what is making Trump so popular. Go Trump/ Cruz.

I don't see where this is Trumps fault...

Walker was competing with other candidates, not just with Trump...and the others have said things about each other, including Walker, so why should that be Trumps fault?

Trump is better than most of them, and he sees right thru them, and shows us and then we can also...

Like I said earlier, politics is a mean and nasty business and if you don't like the heat, stay out of the kitchen....

And if you support him in spite of those liberal positions, fine, but be honest about it.

YOU be honest about it!

No one here is claiming Trump is a "movement conservative."

Conversely, YOU are misrepresenting his "liberal" positions. His Single-Payer plan is ONLY for the poverty class uninsured, his tax-the-rich plan is still a cut, and where you find "class warfare" is anybody's guess.

Thanks. Your post revealed the true nature of Walker’s comments.

Walker completely sacraficed his dignity to satisfy the establishment strategy to drive as much Walker support as possible away from Trump to other establishment losers.

Pretty sure I am watching history unfold.

Walker told Glenn Beck that it was predetermined that the last debate would elevate Fiorina. Trump was in an interview on Fox and said “Walker said that?” I think Walker honestly knew the GOPe were wanting to support Fiorina and Rubio.

If I recall correctly, it was a Walker operative who attacked Trump FIRST. Never throw the first punch against any one much bigger than you.

"Trump doesn’t want to deport any workers, he has already made that perfectly clear. He just wants to do a dance and legalize them."

Then why are all of the GOPe afraid of him?

Reagan was a liberal democrat once. He changed!

Trump was, is and always has been a shrewd businessman with a soft spot for the middle class. Trump has done absolutely nothing to hurt the middle class. Unlike the professional politicians who are under control of their rich donors and thus keep voting for the cheap labor express which hurts middle class.

Read Trump’s book written in 2011. “Time to get tough”.
You might actually learn something that Trump has been consistent on so many issues.

The Conservative Treehouse blog had Walker pegged in July. Their ‘script’ for how this primary is to play out has been fairly much dead on———http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/09/21/tripwire-alert-scott-walker-dropping-out/

I am informed that the Republican Primary is not the election that decides the election for President. I could be confused.

That’s a good point. All this talk that the media hates him and want to destroy, they love him, he’s getting them ratings, which equal MONEY.

If they really hated him, they’d ignore him.

Electibility in general election!

Cruz has been Palinized and can not win in general. He can not win independents. And he will energize Rats like no other candidate can to come out and vote. Cruz should aim for SCOTUS nomination in a Trump admin. Or join Trump ticket as VP.

Thing is, what Trump said about Walker was a democrat union lie. That’s cool with you?
