The appeal of Donald Trump to angry low information voters
examiner.com ^ | 9 9 2015

Aside from being a loud egomaniacal celebrity showman, there are a number of reasons why Donald Trump is leading his GOP rivals with the support of a far-right segment of the Republican Party aka the Trumpsters.

Let's begin with the fact that most Trumpsters are birthers and STILL believe that President Obama is a Muslim born in Kenya. I kid you not. Public Policy Polling ("PPP") just released the results of their new poll showing that 61 percent of Trump's supporters still don’t believe President Obama was born in America and 62 percent think he is a secret Muslim who has lied about his true religious affiliation, and 63 percent want the U.S. Constitution amended to end birthright citizenship.

However, while these percentages are higher than those of the overall GOP electorate polled by PPP, a majority of Republicans still agreed on two out of the three: 54 percent thought Obama was a Muslim, and 51 percent supported ending birthright citizenship, while only 44 percent still believe Obama wasn’t born in the U.S.

This ignorance despite the FACT that the President’s campaign in 2008 posted his legal birth certificate showing a live birth in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4th, 1961; despite the fact that President Obama has for over 20 years professed to be a devout Christian and spoken publicly of his "personal relationship with Jesus Christ"; despite no sightings of the President attending a mosque, no pictures of him reading the Koran, or praying to Mecca, or observing Islamic holidays with his family. Most Americans know this nonsense was largely driven by Trump and the racist ignorant birther myth feeds right into the right-wing’s hate for this President.

Obama is not eligible even if — if — his fake Hawaii “document” were real. Indeed, his place of birth is and always was a diversion

Low information voters? I think LBJ explained how the Democrats have the low information voters pretty much locked in for the next couple of centuries when he said "These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference... I'll have them niggers "N-Words" voting Democratic for the next two hundred years"."

Sad, as well as un-PC as possible but probably true.

I'm not into this thing of bashing Trump supporters, honestly. But I do have to ask, and it's an honest question. Trump has displayed more than a few liberal tendencies in the days prior to his campaigning. If you like the few positive things Trump is claiming (quite loudly to his defense), why would you not support someone who is real like Cruz?

I see the weakness in Cruz, and that one weakness is his seeming inability to act as tough as he really is. the guy is a damned fire hose to the DC crowd, he knows the machine and he knows how to take it down... without making bogus claims that he could never, in a million years, pull off without support in congress. Maybe I'm missing something about Cruz. If I am, I wish the hell I knew what it was. I just can't see any obvious reason why someone would support Trump over Cruz. and I honestly mean that in a constructive manner... I'm not calling anyone stupid.

But, 10 minutes on your favorite search engine exposes what Trump really is... and a conservative he is not. Not even close

I don't know what echo chamber you live in, but after his policy paper on the 2nd Amendment, anyone who makes the blanket statement "he's not a conservative" because he's not THEIR kind of conservative is just making an ass of themselves.

Huh? There are also no photographs of Obama walking on two feet, wearing clothing, eating food...

Oh, yeah, Obama also doesn't wear a ring with the "shahada" engraved in it.

Because he simply does not possess the media firepower required to overcome an antagonistic press: Trump does.

Do they have a really, REALLY BIG mirror where they can practice their Group Angry Face (tm), or just a video camera and a Jumbo-Tron monitor?

Who is their choreographer? They seem to be able to hit all their marks & timing exactly! Bravo! Bravo!

An Oscar for ‘Group Frowning’!

In today's society, evil is good. Black is white. Up is down. So when they claim these are the "low information voters" ... what they really mean is that these have not drank the kool-aid.

Does this idiot try to pass himself off as a reporter? If you disagree with this clown's "facts", you're a white racist bigot. Really? While I'm not a birther, I find it interesting that Obama never released his birth certificate; his campaign did, and it was originally shown to be doctored. Second, the man lies so much I would not believe anything he says, let alone that he does or doesn't observe Islamic holidays. Did he really remove his wedding ring two years in a row for cleaning during the time when Islamic law prevents the display of jewelry? I don't think there's "right wing" hate for the man. It's just he thinks he has the right to ignore the Constitution and is in a job for which he is sorely unprepared. I simply disagree with virtually all of his policies, not because they came from him, but because they are stupid in terms of solving the problems they hope to address.

Conveniently ignoring the FACT that this birth certificate was proved 100% to be a forgery ... And, having reviewed the original PDF document myself, I can personally say it was the worst forgery I have ever seen.

Exsqueeze us LSM but I believe the term ‘low information voters’ was originally coined from conservative minds. Seems like conservatives know and can define the subject quite well informed and can spot those who are truly low informed and perhaps those of just plain stupid voters. No shortage of them thanks to you LSM’s censors of truth.

I like your comment but would add my own thoughts. Anger in time subsides. Certainly there is anger in what Trump correctly identifies as a movement, but people like me who have gone past anger are just finished. Finished with lies, empty promises, contempt towards us, and a willfully inability to show a spine and stand for something even if it costs a politician his precious polling points.

The left is trying to blur the meaning of "low info voter" just like they did with "PC" . We can't let them. Always be clear on who the low info crowd is.

This lost me at “Loud egomaniacal celebrity showman”

They adore Sean penn, George clooney, bill maher, Jon Stewart, Ben affleck and his former sidekick, for the sole virtue of being loud egomaniacal celebrity showmen

Liberals must get bored with all the illogical ideas floating around in their world.

It will be fun if Trump wins the nomination. It will be the first time in history that after the primaries that the entire rnc will be working full out against the campaign of the republcan candidate
