MACKINAC ISLAND, MI Rand Paul won the presidential preference straw poll this weekend at the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference, a biennial gather of more than 2,000 Michigan Republicans.
With 785 attendees voting, the U.S. Senator from Kentucky received 22 percent of the vote in the MIRS/Detroit News straw poll. Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina finished second at 15 percent.
Each of the top five vote-getters spoke at the island event, including Ohio Gov. John Kasich (13.7 percent), Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas (13 percent) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (9.7 percent).
John Yob, national political director and Michigan strategist for the Paul campaign, said he was "thrilled" with the candidate's performance in a Friday Saturday evening speech hours before the straw poll closed.

From what I was hearing by way of twitter the Paul supporters were very "aggressive" and not necessarily republican.

Back in spring, Paul also won the straw poll at the GA 2nd Dist convention. He also has elected people speaking on his behalf. He inherited a contingent, but it does not translate into delegates.

Same here. The Mackinac straw poll isn’t really representative of Michigan since it is generally a relatively small number of activists and donors from all over the country.

LOL, Just even looking at tem you can tell by the looks of the girlie boys and the ugly females that they are not even republicans.
I remember the last election where Dems were putting stickers on their vehicles saying things like Republican for Obama, or vets for Obama when they were not even a veteran.

Or banished to Syria seeing as they want to live with them. Maybe banish them to Africa and other third world countries seeing as they want more diversity too.
