Trump Policy Paper Calls For Expanded Gun Rights, National Concealed Carry
talkingpointsmemo.com ^ | SEPTEMBER 18, 2015 | KATHERINE KRUEGER

The same day Donald Trump's campaign cancelled his appearance at the Heritage Action Presidential Forum, the candidate released a policy paper on his plan to expand gun rights Friday.

The paper, dubbed "Protecting Our Second Amendment Rights Will Make America Great Again," calls for an end to gun and magazine bans and nationwide concealed carry permits.

Trump's plan would also end the ban on carrying guns on military bases and recruiting centers, presumably a response to the July shootings at military sites in Chattanooga, Tenn. that left four Marines dead.

And Trump is NOT calling for the federal government to do anything. His point is that if you have a conceal carry permit it should be valid EVERYWHERE.

Read the darned paper before you start blathering

This a teaser of TRUMPS attitude.. forget the guns ..
He’s a BIG gov’t Dude.. like Jeb, Obama, Carly and Kacich..

Small gov’t dudes are rare it seems..
States can do whatever they want.. big or small..

The US Constitution was written down to ENSURE federal givernment would remain SMALL(limited).. it’s whole reason for being..

To LIMIT the size and scope of the federal gov’t.. not to grant rights given by God.. which are evident even IF gov’t try to take them..

Thats why democrats (including Trump) have absolved the US Constitution..
TRUMP cares nothing for the US Constitution..
When did he mention it last?.. (like NEVER)..

i think he wants to make your state permit valid every where you go. like your state drivers license.
here’s the position paper words. read them and let me know if you have an issue with this position let me know.

That’s why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states. A driver’s license works in every state, so it’s common sense that a concealed carry permit should work in every state. If we can do that for driving – which is a privilege, not a right – then surely we can do that for concealed carry, which is a right, not a privilege.

Sounds to me like he’s talking about the constitution. Specifically, he’s talking about the second amendment being a right. less obviously, he’s talking about the full faith and credit clause-the constitutional clause that makes your marriage license and your state driver’s license valid in all 50 states. There’s nothing wrong with having a President use the power of the federal government to compel states to abide by the constitution which is what it sounds like he’s talking about to me. You’re obviously not a fan of Donald Trump but that big government small government BS just doesn’t fly here.

That is the best thing I have ever read on the second amendment vs gun control. Trump deserves to win the presidency on that paper alone.

“The US Constitution was written down to ENSURE federal givernment would remain SMALL(limited).. it’s whole reason for being..”

I agree with your statement 100%. Truth is, it didn’t work. Smarter folks than me debate for hours on why .gov is out of control but fact of the matter it is out of control and it didn’t happen over night. It took decades to get where we are today. In light of these facts, it is foolish to think .gov will be back in the box next week or even over the term of the perfect presidential candidate. You and I are going to suffer through this mess for quite some time before it is restored. If it can be restored.

In the meantime, if my South Carolina conceal carry permit can be made valid in all 50 states by no further action on my part, that is a win for me.

-------------------------------------------------------

Thats what's wrong with the Trumpbots..
THEY suppose he is thinking "this or that"...
even when facts / indications proves otherwise..

He may be "this or that", maybe NOT..
Electing him President to find OUT--- is way silly..

Strains my Crony-Capitalist-DAR...

Let him prove hisself for a couple of years.. i.e. politically..

So, when Trump puts out a black and white position paper that clearly supports gun rights, he’s a big government closet liberal stalking horse, and only the purest interpretation of the second amendment will do...you know, that interpretation that all the other candidates are running with.

What, exactly, would Mr. Trump have to say, do or support to convince you that he’s actually trying to do something for the good of the country?

Looks like a lever-action, that’s the best I can do, my only lever-action was my first rifle, the Winchester 94.

So you’re OK with the feds. TELLING your State what they can do with their own gun laws?..

I AM NOT.. it’s none the feds. business.. NONE..
IF one State wants to UNARM their citizens let them..
They have a right to do it.. a POX on them..

It’s pretty clear to me what he’s talking about-the full faith and credit clause. The man is telling me that he will support Concealed Carry reciprocity and you’re telling me I shouldn’t support him. Guess who I’m going to listen to.

I sure am. The second amendment is incorporated against the states and rightfully so.

Wrong.
States do not have the right or ability to disarm their population.
Wrong
Wrong
Wrong

The 2nd applies universally. It is quite clearly a federal issue as it is an explicit right in the constitution. The 2nd amendment made firearms a federal issue and it was done that way intentionally.

Your argument is literally and absolutely invalid.

The 10th amendment does not apply since the 2nd is already clear on the issue. Gun rights are not an unenumerated power left to the state.

Ridiculous

Dude, you just contradicted yourself. First, it is not ok with you for feds to tell your state what to do with gun laws then it is a fed issue.

Time to regroup.......

NOW.... right there is a logical question..

Answer; Agree to be on Ted Cruz’s Cabinet for the dis-assembling of the federal government.. drop out. for the better man.. displaying extreme devotion to the United States knowing whats at stake..

THEN; I would stand down and be embarrassed at my attitude..
AND tout Donald Trump as the MOST generous patriot I know..
maybe even “love” him as also close to the most intelligent player I’ve ever witnessed..

What is odds of that happening?.. I doubt he would serve another.. with gusto and zeal..
The Zeal he expects from all his employees..

AND top that would apologize to all my very smart freeper buddies that supported him.. (if that happened)..
I don’t see that happening either..

There I said it..

WRONG.. I am telling you, you should not support him as PRESIDENT..
I support some what he is saying and doing currently myself..

But as President, NO.. the better man is ready and able and prepared to do that job..
Trump would be a lousy President.. more Executive Orders...
Congress would fight him tooth and nail..
UNLESS he spent money like a drunken BILLIONAIRE..

Would be almost Obamaic.. or worse than that..
