Trump's bumptious body language dominates
wsbt.com/CNN ^ | Elizabeth Cohen

For anyone who watched Wednesday night's Republican primary debate with the volume turned down, there was a clear winner, communication experts say: Donald Trump, hands down.

"When it comes to body language, nobody does it better," says David Givens, director of the Center for Nonverbal Studies in Spokane, Washington. "He just neutralizes the opposition."

*snip*

He leans forward on the lectern.

Trump's opponents tend to stand up straight, which might please their mothers, but doesn't do much for the audience. Givens notes that Trump puts his hands on the lectern and leans forward. "It's like he's doing a pushup. It's a display of power," he says.

He gestures out to the audience.

It's a very big gesture, Givens says, reaching way out. "He extends his hands towards you. It's very personal," Givens says.

His palms are up.

When he does these big gestures, he usually has his palms up.

"He's saying 'I'm open, I am who I am and you can trust me,'" Morgan says, noting that Trump tends to have his palms up when facing the audience or when journalists ask him questions, but not when he faces his opponents.

2nd Debate.. Trump LOST many female voters to Carly.. an Also ran..

Carly SPANKED Donald Trump.. and I’m not even FOR Carly..

She was almost “Presidential”.. Thatcherish..
Even Marco Rineo did well..

Stand out moment: the great ignoring of Ted Cruz.. stood out..
EXACTLY like the 1st Debate..

And this is why he's going to surprise everyone (except me) and choose Carly Fiorina as his running mate.

I don't think so. He needs someone who knows the political lay of the land (and can bring a big voter bloc). And that ain't Carly.

More likely he will choose someone like Cruz.

>> was it Jeb or one of the others who said “this election isn’t about me, its about this country!” ?

I don’t recall.

If it WAS Jeb, you’d have to clarify: “Which country did you mean, Jeb? Mejico? China? UK? What?”

“It says Bush thinks taller people are winners and shorter people are losers.”

That is true. All things being equal, people tend to choose a taller person than a shorter person. Obama is tall and that helped him pull in voters.

A body language expert likely told Bush to stand tall and on the tips of his toes when the pictures were made.

As a Freeper said the other day, Carly looks like she swallowed an insect.

I thought Trump did great last night.

He had good answers, he was affable, he didn’t take himself too seriously, and he nailed Rand Paul nicely, but effectively.

His close was right on target—the rest of these folks talk, but I DO.

Trump is the child who tells everyone that the Emperor is naked.

That's why people (including me) love him!

Love of truth is a basic human instinct, though like any other instinct it can--and often is--perverted.

For excellent examples of the extent to which it can be perverted, turn on the TV. Watch especially the politicians, the so-called "journalists", the "celebrities", and the university professors and other so-called "experts."

I was thinking last night that I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump chose Rubio. He’s young, attractive and passionate, even if he is wrong headed.

I still think though that he’ll chose someone like Sessions or another businessman type. Hard to say, VP picks have always mystified me.

“One thing I noticed was that ALL of the other male candidates were really sweating...beads of sweat on their foreheads....not Trump.”

Yes, Trump was sweating, too. I was told this morning, CNN built up the whole area where people were, 7 ft. up from the floor. That put all of them closer to the ceiling where hot air was - the colder air was beneath them so everyone was in hot air and sweating.

Trump is very much an Alpha Male type among a field mostly consisting of Beta Males.

As many are reporting, is was very hot were they were. Even the audience was feeling it.

They were ‘all’ sweating....CNN had elevated the stage so high , to reach the windows of the plane, that heat naturally rose to the stage. It had nothing to do with any candidate’s pressure or position.

I see no value in Trump picking a politician. It could be Carly, most likely not Dr. Carson who would be a much better cabinet choice. I’d look for Trump to pick a person like himself who has never held political office but who brings a strong track record of accomplishment in business, finance, technology, or energy. And that he would task his high-talent VP with the primary job of downsizing the federal government.
