For anyone who watched Wednesday night's Republican primary debate with the volume turned down, there was a clear winner, communication experts say: Donald Trump, hands down.
"When it comes to body language, nobody does it better," says David Givens, director of the Center for Nonverbal Studies in Spokane, Washington. "He just neutralizes the opposition."
*snip*
He leans forward on the lectern.
Trump's opponents tend to stand up straight, which might please their mothers, but doesn't do much for the audience. Givens notes that Trump puts his hands on the lectern and leans forward. "It's like he's doing a pushup. It's a display of power," he says.
He gestures out to the audience.
It's a very big gesture, Givens says, reaching way out. "He extends his hands towards you. It's very personal," Givens says.
His palms are up.
When he does these big gestures, he usually has his palms up.
"He's saying 'I'm open, I am who I am and you can trust me,'" Morgan says, noting that Trump tends to have his palms up when facing the audience or when journalists ask him questions, but not when he faces his opponents.

>> And Bush on his tippy toes, what does that say?
That he has the heart of a ballerina?
We are seeing the Peter Principle in action and how it works:
DEFINITION OF PETER PRINCIPLE
An observation that in an organizational hierarchy, every employee will rise or get promoted to his or her level of incompetence. The Peter Principle is based on the notion that employees will get promoted as long as they are competent, but at some point will fail to get promoted beyond a certain job because it has become too challenging for them. Employees rise to their level of incompetence and stay there. Over time, every position in the hierarchy will be filled by someone who is not competent enough to carry out his or her new duties.
BREAKING DOWN PETER PRINCIPLE
The Peter Principle was first observed by Dr. Laurence J. Peter and published in his book The Peter Principle in 1968. Dr. Peter also states that a promotion to the higher-ranking job position may not necessarily reveal the employees incompetence, but rather the new position may require different skills the employee does not possess. Dr. Peter sums up the Peter Principle with the saying: the cream rises until it sours. The Peter Principal can be a problem for businesses which can be solved through continued education. Even with proper employee training, the Peter Principal predicts the employee will eventually get to a position where they are incompetent because of further promotion.

I don’t feel an ounce of sympathy for the entitled establishment elitest. Watching him squirm was the best part of last night. The icing on the cake was his “Margaret Thatcher” moment. What a bonus!
The Huckster and Kasich were sweating it out, too.
Have you ever watch any videos of Mussolini's speeches? His use of body language is superb.
I doubt if he has to stand very much. I would likely assume the same position as a podium is not my medium either. It’s an age thing for me also. He may just have weak back muscles. I use a cart in a store so I can lean.
>> I believe it says “I’m a ballerina!”
You beat me to it. I’m getting slow in my old age.
>> The icing on the cake was his Margaret Thatcher moment. What a bonus!
What do you expect from a guy who uses scenery shot in the UK for his “America is great” ads.
Kasich is from Ohio and we refer to that as a “sheen”, which is a compliment for a hard worker. The others? Just sweaters. lol
He doesn’t dominate her?? Of course he does. She burnt HP bad.
Interesting article and I just figured out what one of the things that bothers me about Cruz is. He’s always pointing his finger in my face. Makes me want to reach out and break it.
I don’t do well with obvious I’m smarter than you people. LOL, I guess I’m slow on the uptake nowdays. It took me this long to figure it out.
Actually, imagine if Trump did wipe the floor with iCarly.
All we’d hear about until the end of time is how Trump is mean to girls and that his behavior is emblematic of the larger Republican War-on-Women.
Trump had a valid reason for his self-restraint; although I would have loved to see him nuke iCarly effing-RINO.
Imagine a woman Trump cannot dominate.
And this is why he's going to surprise everyone (except me) and choose Carly Fiorina as his running mate.
We are not voting on their performance in the business world.
We are voting on their maturity, their grasp of the issues, and their ability to stay calm under fire.
Whose finger do you want on the nuclear button?
Not much!
BTW, was it Jeb or one of the others who said “this election isn’t about me, its about this country!” ?
She did not get under his skin.... He had to use every ounce of discipline to not screem out ....look at that face... Dont you see it?
Conspiracy theorist!
That is a silly question anyway. I don’t think any of them would be dumb enough to use that button flippantly.
