On Tuesday, talk radio host Glenn Beck accused the Tea Party supporters of GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump of being racists.
While he questioned whether Trumps supporters are genuine Tea Partiers, Beck said of them, If you were a Tea Party person, then you were lying. You were lying. It was about Barack Obama being black. It was about him being a Democrat. Although he later identified fellow talk show host Sean Hannity as a Tea Party supporter who thinks Trump is a great guy, Beck said that he simply disagrees with Hannity about Trump.
Becks comments came as part of a discussion of Trumps rally in Texas yesterday before a sold-out crowd of 20,000. Beck stated, The medias making this look like [Trumps supporters are] Tea Party people. I dont think these are Tea Party people who are following him. Some of them may be, but I think these I mean, you cant if you were a Tea Party person, then you were lying. You were lying. It was about Barack Obama being black. It was about him being a Democrat, because this guy is offering you many of the same things, as shallow as the same way. If you said to me that it bothered you about his past, you said to me, Hey, what about his relationship with Jeremiah Wright? What about what hes done here, here, and here? Youre not bothered by this guy, and its exactly the same thing.

That’s a bit over the top, but he does have a point about Trump being for some (if not many) things that Tea Partiers said we were against.
Earlier today, Glenn Beck urged his fans to donate to the US Chamber of Commerce, a group that strongly supports illegal and massive immigration. In 2006, GOP Rep. James Sensenbrenner suggested that the Chamber register as a foreign agent due to what they support. Now, Glenn Beck wants his listeners and viewers to send them money. The pretext is because of innuendo leveled by both ThinkProgress and Barack Obama that the Chamber is soliciting foreign money (true) and then using that to influence the political process inside the U.S. (so far undetermined).
Beck could have pointed out how he thinks ThinkProgress et al are wrong and kept it at that. Instead, he’s encouraging his fans to donate to a group that could care less about them.

Yes, it’s terrible that your candidate is being criticized. We can’t allow that.
No, Glenn is for a wall and for securing the borders.
I think Trump was joking about putting his name on the border wall (in big gold letters), but if not, it does display a bit of ego that is somewhat over the top.
It’s not about you, Donald. It’s about the country.
you have no idea who my candidate will be...IDIOT.
And therefore less than human, right?
He said the same thing about Newt as he says about Trump: they’re progressives. And he can back that up. Now, you may agree with him or not, but it’s not something that can be dismissed out of hand.
Yep, It stands to reason that if one is a member of a cult, that may not be a foundation for mental stability.
I question Ben Carson as a viable candidate for the same reason. Ellen G. White was a false prophetess who was a founder of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. A Pacifist religion, no way would Carson defend this country militarily.
Both Newt and Donald have had somewhat, er, checkered personal lives (as Glenn Beck has had in the past.)
Is he still around?
Glenn is like a stone skipping on the pond of reality.Sometimes he’s in contact briefly, but most of the time....
Who is that pretty red-headed girl, the libertarian? Beck did identify with republicans a while back, I’’m sure of it. Anyhow, that pretty girl seems to have had a big influence on Beck.
I’ve always wondered about her since way back when Beck was at FOX. Beck was going to show us something on his Ipad (think it was an ipad)and a big glamour shot of the red-headed girl was on it but he quickly and sheepishly got it off screen real fast.
I don’t know that it means a thing, but that moment has always stuck in my mind. Even then I puzzled as to why he had that photo and I think it was before he had announced he was leaving FOX.
[”Did he not tell people to get into the booth on election day and vote for Romney?”]
And another reminder that you didn’t. Thanks!
Glenn has done good stories on terrorism and Obama and other issues that even the “conservative” media wouldn’t dare do — or did two years later. He was one of teh first to expose gun-running from the Benghazi embassy and to expose the possible paymaster of the Tsarnaev brothers (and how the regime protected him.) He has done brilliant work on Soros.
The Restoring Unity march was an excellent cause. He drew 20,000 people to Birmingham for the largest march that city has seen since Dr. King’s march.
Sometimes he can be a little over the top. So can Savage. So can Rush occasionally, as well as Levin. If you listen carefully, he’s on our side.
Do we agree on every issue? No, and I can say that for all the people I cited. But we’re in agreement on most things, and there are deeper dimensions to Beck that I find refreshing.
He apologized for that and walked it back. He’s fine with Sarah.
Had everyone done that there would have been no second term for Barry. But alas...they had to ‘win’.
Oops. I still have my beliefs intact. Romney voters? They have nothing. Some admitted their mistake in advancing GOP liberalism. Some didn’t. Such is life. Fact is, they did.
Beck did not support Romney in the primaries. He did support Romney in the general. Many people here did too.
Becks videos spell out on his black board how Islamists, Socialists and Communists will destabilize the middle east. It will cascade to Europe and then the U.S.. Of course, Soros is in the mix. This is to overthrow capitalism. They all have a common enemy. It is right on the money. I am sorry I did not see your post until now.
The entire GOP leadership has supported it, consistently. Pay no attention to what they say in campaigns.
Hannity and Levin are friends of Glenn’s (and supporters, although they disagree on a couple of things.) The Great One appears on his program from time to time.
