Russia Is Building A Massive Military Base On Ukrainian Border

Russia is building a military base along the Ukrainian border, signaling its preparing for long-term support of the pro-Russian separatists fighting for Ukraine.

The massive base - scheduled for completion in April - will house ammunition depots and barracks for several thousand soldiers, and will be used to train soldiers, reported Reuters.

The Reuters reporter investigating the new base was temporarily detained and accused of being a Ukrainian spy. Russian officials didn't respond to Reuters questions about the purpose of the base and whether it's connected to the fight for Ukraine.

The base will include a communications node, massive dining room, a skating rink and swimming pool and more than 1,000 residential apartments. "They are building a military town," a local resident told Reuters.

Housing for 1,000 troops indicates this is a massive base?

Sound rather average to small to me.

This might spell doom for ISIS.

I doubt that. They sell weapons at a profit to both sides. If you aren't part of the solution, there's good money to be made in prolonging the problem.

This might spell doom for ISIS.

Or any other small, Christian country nearby.

This is more about being a staging point for an invasion of the Ukraine and to be able to provide support for Russian Separatists already operating there now.
