On Active Duty with the National Guard.

All leaves got stopped, but no one got called in except essential people.

The next Drill Weekend, you can imagine the briefings...

Where were YOU on September 11th, 2001?

I was working contract for Xerox in their SOHO (small office/home office) multifunction laser printing support (call center) Normally there would be well over a thousand calls in queue-it was a BIG call center in Webster NY. We had giant jumbo-tron boards with all the queues and how many calls were in queue. The calls went to ZERO (except for a few calls from Canada) Our web servers crashed because everyone there was looking at the news (as was the world). Very eerie.

I remember it was The 5th Anniversary of September 11th in 2006 and My Family was watching "103 Minutes that Changed America" (Fantastic Program By the way, No Interviews or anything, just the Vids as they happened)

And They showed a Column of Firefighters ready to scale the Second Tower and My Father Made the Observation (The Only time anyone in my family spoke during the program)

That all those men we saw there, most likely were killed when the Tower Came down.

It made watching that even more Sobering.

Ironic is that we elected a man who seeks to arm our worse enemies and do it on the day that our worse enemies attacked us. Kind of like electing a member of the Japanese Royal family president on 1943. What the hell happened?

I was sitting at my desk at Fort Hood working on some project as a new hire contractor. I had just retired from the Army three months earlier. A coworker sitting behind me mentioned that an aircraft had just hit the WTC. I went downstairs to the conference room to turn FNC on the big screen.

There were already a half dozen officers and NCOs there watching the attack unfold. We all watched the second tower get hit. A very surreal and sobering moment that I'll never forget.

I actually missed all the major stuff happening live on TV that morning. When the 1st plane hit, I was walking with some co-workers outside to get to our weekly status meeting at 9 (yes, east coast). We had our meeting. Disrupted a bit by 1 co-worker who came back in from bathroom break at 10 and told us his wife texted him on Blackberry that planes had hit the WTC and Pentagon.

So our super dismissed the meeting and we all went to a drafter admin who had a small TV going. Must’ve just missed the 1st collapse. I knew right away we had Moslems on our hands. A co-worker of a certain persuasion argued we never know who it could be - they could be whites. Yeah, right. Sorry, wrong!

I was on my way into work, listening to the news on the radio(PBS) when the first tower was hit. Saw the second tower hit on TV when I got to the building. Then I went to work and put in my day. It was a weird time.
