Trump: Carson Was 'Heavy Into the World of Abortion'
CNN ^ | September 10, 2015 | Jeremy Diamond

Posted on 09/10/2015 8:34:11 AM PDT by Helicondelta

Donald Trump slammed Ben Carson Thursday morning, one day after the retired neurosurgeon questioned the businessman's faith.

Trump told CNN's Chris Cuomo on "New Day" that Carson, who was the first surgeon to separate conjoined twins joined at the head, was just an "OK doctor" and said "you look at his faith and I think you're not going to find so much."

Trump also called Carson's views on abortion "horrendous." Carson is staunchly opposed to abortion now, but was an abortion-rights supporter when he was younger and performed medical research on aborted fetuses in 1992.

Why the H is he shooting himself in the foot?

And, further,I have no problem with Trump being the candidate and will vote for him if he is. It’s a fair question though since he is going out of his way to make ridiculous statements.

Trump was once pro-choice but is now pro-life (on the issues)

What are they going to do, argue about who did what in kindergarten instead of arguing the issues that face us right now?

Carson won’t be done in by the abortion issue. This is what will end his political chances:

“Is it moral for us, for example, to take advantage of cheap labor from illegal immigrants while denying them citizenship? I’m sure you can tell from the way I phrased the question that I believe we have taken the moral low road on this issue. Some segments of our economy would virtually collapse without these undocumented workers—we all know that—yet we continue to harass and deport many individuals who are simply seeking a better life for themselves and their families.”

In other words, it looks like nothing would change on illegal immigration under a Carson Presidency.

Trump really wants to play the abortion card, with his record on the issue?

Trump has stated his position. He was previously pro choice and is recently pro life. Similar to Dr. Carson. I think it is a fair assessment and I agree with others that though it would be better to avoid attacks on each other, it is a primary and Trump is in the lead. He does not want the GOPe to push another candidate (Carson, Fiorina) with the intent of giving room for a Bush, Walker, etc., so all are fair game at this point. Cruz is playing it well and safe, but Trump feels comfortable with Cruz doing so when he polling in single digits at this point. He is not a threat at this point.

Trump is a great populist and salesman/showman.

After he gets the nomination, if he does, the target audience changes and there is no way to know what his second season episodes will be.

My guess would be it will be time to load up on the popcorn as he unleashes salvo after salvo on Hillary, Bernie, Biden, Gore, Kerry....think he’s been rough thus far? Just wait.

Never understood the bizarre draw Carson had from Conservatives.

He’s just like all the rest IMO as well.

But Carson questioned Trumps faith yesterday, a entire day passed were Carson team could have said that Politico report was inaccurate or taken out of context, but they did not.

So Trump fights back and only now do team Carson say that was not what Carson meant.

Carson says Christians are not welcome in Govt, Trump agreed with him

Go Cruz

After seeing the PP videos, I’d say Carson’s using aborted fetuses for research is more reprehensible than Trump’s prior or current views on abortion.

Before you judge Carson, you should probably take time to learn what exactly was involved. Carson was not collecting aborted fetuses for research purposes, or using them to develop medicines or cosmetics... This was one particular study in 1992, where Carson examined two slides of tissue that were already in the hospital tissue research bank, one from a fetus that was at 9 weeks of gestation, and one at 17 weeks of gestation. He used these slides to compare healthy tissue at that stage of development to diseased tissue at that stage. He was not involved in collecting the tissue nor was the tissue collected for his study. It was part of a tissue bank that had samples of tissue collected from all stages of development, from babies that had been miscarried naturally as well as aborted.

So let's not equate Carson with PP, okay. That type of hyperbole just diminishes the seriousness of the subject of abortion.

Not in Carson’s character to attack Trump. Carson should be like Cruz and campaign, not attack.

In other words, it looks like nothing would change on illegal immigration under a Carson Presidency.

Yet Trump's position is to send them home, and then give them a quick way to come back legally. That may resolve the "illegal" issue, but doesn't solve the problem of lower wages, higher unemployment, higher welfare costs, etc. that having a large pool of unskilled labor causes. So Trump's plan is not a panacea either.
