-snip- Ever since the rise of Trump, many among the GOPs Elite Commentariat, Thought Leaders, Establishment, and the Consultant Class have been on a rampage against not just Trump, who is fair game but our very own voters. Ive been watching politics for decades and until now have never seen pundits within either Party attack their own voting base. This is a very disturbing precedent.
arently, when the Republican Elite think of Reagans Big Tent, some are more welcome than others. Illegal immigrants are welcome. Trump supporters can go pound sand.

Another insightful essay by my old friend, author and investigative journalist (a REAL one), Pat Shannan.
The subject is Trump and the threat he poses to the elites — and the threat THEY pose to HIM!
WARNING: If you STILL don’t know how the REAL WORLD works, avoid reading this essay as knowledge of this sort can cause long bouts of sleeplessness among those who love America, the IDEA left us by the Founders, and the freedoms they sought to bequeath us.

Read "Liberal Fascism" (by Jonah Goldberg) and then get back to me.
Or not as much of a problem as Trump does. They figure that the problem can be contained or controlled, but I'm not sure they're all riding the "cheap labor express."
Debate here tends to get personal both ways. Lots of snide attacks by anti-Trumpers on what they think the "typical Trump supporter" is like. But also, an unwillingness by pro-Trumpers to consider legitimate arguments against their candidate.
You don't have to be elite or Establishment to wonder if Trump isn't going to leave Republicans or conservatives holding the bag in the end.
As someone said elsewhere:
You can’t make a RINO without an NRO.
Jonah Goldberg should self-deport.
You are right. I try to avoid that. You, I notice, do the same.
Trump is all over the map on issues he doesn't care about, and on issues he does care about, he is in the end a deal-maker, not an ideologue. So, its reasonable to question if he is the right guy for the job, question if we really know what he'll do (after he builds the fence...)
We already know we'll be hung out to dry by the usual suspects, though. Cruz is the only one I really trust to do what he says he'll do, he is in my opinion the best candidate we've had in decades. But he can't get any traction, people dismiss him or don't even notice him. Not people here at FR, we're well aware of him and he has a lot of support here, even among people who support Trump for example. But among people who are not engaged, they hardly know who he is.
He'll have to just soldier on.
Interesting i did read the votescam years ago and have thot that it was a real documentary of the voting machine tampering. also i thot that the brit that did the JFK assassination demonstrating that is was an accidental discharge of the rookie driver that replaced some of the hungover secret service detail in the car in front of JFK made the deadly shot. in reaction to the shooting from the book repository. I’m thinking oswald was used but was only intended to scare JFK. The killing was accidental. Also JFK was the last president to issue real money. Silver certificates quickly de-circulated by LBJ. I’m also working on a book where the republican winner of the election is assassinated. so the current president buys the electoral college to vote him to another term. due to the chaos he created.
That’s a real intelligent reply.
See my reply (#49) which I wrote before I saw yours.
“Did you read Liberal Fascism?”
No, and I don’t plan on it. As you have read it, what is new that it would it tell me? That liberalism, socialism, and progressivism are intellectual handmaids to fascism and nazism? As practiced they’re almost indistinguishable? I came to that view 20 plus years ago. No point in going down an already worn and traveled road.
I like new ideas: what I’ve seen of JG to date doesn’t inspire.
The only reason Jonah Goldberg is not flipping burgers at Micky Dees is a stain on a blue dress. Jonah Goldberg has no talent and he is not very smart.
Oh they’re being true to form...
