Talk radio host Hugh Hewitt has said in the wake of last week's controversial foreign policy interview with Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump that "I deplore 'gotcha questions,'" yet he's repeatedly defended asking them in the past and even says on his website that there's no such thing as a "gotcha question."

I know. When I listened to Fiorina it is as if Hewitt had given her the questions ahead of time. She sounded so fake and insincere. Hewitt asking her if she thought he was asking gotcha questions. What would she have answered? This was an opportunity to take down Trump and she took it. She would not have played it any other way.
That I agree with . Trump knows media and how to play it like no one I have ever seen. Whatever comes out of Hewitt’s mouth will be suspect but he should not have been so obsessed about gotcha questions. He set himself up too.
Interpretation: “I can’t be wrong.”
I didn’t know he was that chunky. Dang.
Beautifully, beautifully said.
If Hewitt were doing the interview on Trump’s ability to run and build hotels it would go like this.
HH: How many folds go into folding towels in your hotel?
DT: I really don’t know. I have people to do that for me.
HH: So you do not know how many folds go into your hotel towels. How about wash cloths. Can you describe how they are folded?
DT: Not really. My staff does that I do not.
Next day the media headlines go something like this. “ Trump’s knowledge of running a hotel very limited as illustrated by his inability to fold towels. His future success very doubtful. “
He has created a persona that doesn't seem to suffer from that stuff that doesn't stick.
I don't know how he did it, but he did.
That's the way he is changing politics.
He has blown up the dam (as we used to say). It's a whole new world.
There is nothing to stop Trump from going all the way. He owns the field.
I think he learned this in high school (NY Military Academy) and from his dad.
Dude seriously needs whitening strips.
Congrats!
If there is one thing that has done me in in my 30 years of being in business for myself it is the assumption that I cannot be wrong. That has always cost me very big. Too many people have untested opinions that they swear by. That is the way to lose everything.
People are so insular that they can’t understand the impression they are making. Those two don’t realize that turn off more people than they gain by engaging in such charades. This is exactly why people are seething, and when talked down to in a condescending manner, they get even more rejecting of the GOPe meme that is being put out there.
Where people have a blind spot when it comes to Trump is that they refuse to see that he might be a genius when it comes to media and business that no one can compete with.
What is making Trump’s success is Trump and no one else.
Nonsense. Kelly flung filibustered accusation after accusation. Hewitt asked relevant foreign policy questions.
Hewitt considers Islamic terror and the situation in the Middle East to be paramount presidential concerns and asks keystone questions to determine the level of knowledge on the subject. A question he always asks is Did you read The Looming Tower? A question he asks of liberals is Do you believe Alger Hiss was a communist?
Tough questions, yes. Gotchas, no.
I was appalled at Kelly in the debate. I was embarrassed for Trump when he made the gaff during the Hewitt interview, but honestly, Trump made a pretty good save. His post-interview attacks on Hewitt were misguided.
I remember when Gore ran for prez and how condescending he was. I seem to remember him saying that you have to communicate at the 5th grade level.
These politicians are the ones with a 5th grade iq.
Yep. He has mastered the media.
Another thing is that thing with Fiorina was conducted as though the two of them were talking to a bunch of LIV instead of political listeners who listen to a variety of sources and realize the nature of that little play for what it was.
Hewitt the pompous ass who told us all how wonderful President Romney would be
Outstanding LOL
Poor maggot kelly and huey hewitt: tried to kill the king, but only made him stronger.
Some of those are good folks, Like Hillsdale... Don’t lump all in the same basket.
