A San Antonio School district is investigating after a football player ran into the back of a referee watching a play and another player then dove into the official after he fell. Both players were ejected from the game.

Pascual Gonzalez, a spokesman for the Northside Independent School District, told The Associated Press that video of the incident was "extremely disturbing." Gonzalez said the district is investigating and will hold a due process hearing with interviews with game officials, coaches and students.

I see a trial with their coach on the stand “did you order the Code Red?”

Not surprising when you consider the disdain and hostility towards authority that is prevalent in America today. Arrest the players and any coaches involved. Suspend the football program for the rest of the season.

Same thing as the ‘knockout game’ where ferals waylay an elderly, unsuspecting person on the street.

No. The coach is not involved. We used to “gang” up on players across the line if the were dirty or if they were “beating” us. I was a center and I would just tell the guard next to me that the opposing lineman was being a pain in the ass. We would put him on the ground pretty quickly, just to clean him up.

The coach never told us to do it. And it was part of the game. But doing it to a ref? That’s messed up.

The story of the boys is that the ref had been calling them n*ggers at different parts of the game up to then.

Im serious.

Ridiculous.

I`m told the truth is they didnt like some of this guys calls and this racism claim is a neutralization attempt effort.

Northside ISD athletic director Steve Laing told KENS-TV in San Antonio the two players involved in the incident — sophomore linebacker Victor Rojas and senior defensive back Michael Moreno — have been suspended from the team, pending an NISD investigation.

So what....?

If the racist name calling if true, (which I doubt) is still not a reason to assault someone...

You make a complaint to the ref association and the school board after the game...

The amazing thing about incidents like this is the inability of the perpetrators to understand the consequences of their actions.

This was not a heat of the moment shove in the chest. These two youths obviously took a few moments to plan their coordinated assault on the referee. They deserve to be charged with criminal assault.

Simple solution: Kick them off the school team permanently. They can always move to another district if they want to continue their careers.

As far as I know, the rulebooks in Texas are all written in English. Sometimes, not all parties can even read or speak the same language. So, it was just a mis-interpretation between parties. That happens a lot.

In Texas, star athletes can always find a bed at the local firehall until their dad (not always available) or mother (sometimes available) gets a new job at one of the alumni’s businesses and moves into the district. In lieu of parents, sometimes a college recruiter or local alumni will assume guardianship until the parents can be located and the paperwork signed.

From the mentality shown, these guys appear to have very promising college careers if they can keep from being shot or arrested along the way. Time will tell.

In the old days, college bound stars could be seen driving new convertibles around town and parking in reserved spaces in the high school parking lot. They all had jobs in the oil patch or some business after school hours which paid them a princely sum. Occasionally, they showed up for work.

As a result, Texas has produced some great football players over the years. /s

As I live in the San Antonio area it has been big news for the last few days. John Jay HS is not one of the premier locations for advanced learning. In fact someone around here posted the suggestion that it has been decades since a JJHS graduate has earned a college degree while only weeks since one was sent to jail.

I am loathe to consider that the coach was involved overtly but it would not be the first time it happened around here. When my kids were playing soccer our team was once notified that a primarily hispanic team on our schedule was known for making slide tackles where the opponents knee was the target instead of the ball. Our kids kept their heads on a swivel and managed to get out of that game without injury. Fortunately the other team’s coach was sanctioned by our league and has not coached around here again.

“The story of the boys is that the ref had been calling them n*ggers “

Ahhh. . . .the great N-word get-out-of-jail card. . .excuses EVERYTHING, just a mere accusation of the use of the word is enough to warrant a beat-down or death.

Crying wolf has its downside you bunch of “N*ggers”

Even worse, the players had protective helmets and pads; the ref didn’t.

That is about on the level as the so-called knockout games. It certainly does seem premeditated.

The football ref should take up baseball ump. And favor the Louisville Slugger.
