A Kentucky county clerk has appealed a judge's decision to put her in jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Attorneys for Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis officially appealed the ruling on Sunday. The three page motion does not include arguments as to why Davis should be released but amends Davis' earlier appeal of the judge's order.
Mat Staver, one of Davis' attorneys, said the marriage licenses issued Friday are "not worth the paper they are written on" because Davis refused to authorize them. But Rowan County Attorney Cecil Watkins says the licenses are valid. Bunning said he did not know if the licenses were valid but ordered them issued anyway.
Staver called the contempt hearing "a charade" saying that Bunning had his mind made up before the hearing began.

“Governor Bunning should call the legislature into session to pass a new marriage law if he doesnt know.”
You’ve got the names confused. Bunning is the a$$hole federal “judge” who has put the woman in jail. The governor is a RAT by the name of Beshear, who, by all appearance is hiding under his desk. Seems as though the only Kentucky pol to come to the party is Rand Paul.
He is probably a member of the velvet mafia.Cant wait for that to come out if so.
Yes you are right.........
Look what the Reverend has to say
I think his actions speak loud and clear.
Is Bunning the Governor?
What would be done to any other government official who refused to carry out their duties?

Bunning is the judge. Beshear is governor.
Davis *IS* carrying out her duties.
She has been jailed for refusing to comply with a judge’s order to violate the law.
I thought that Bunning was the Judge. Thank you for the Governor’s name.
His actions appear to indicate that he is.
Agreed - Davis is carrying out her duties. Kudos to her!
I messed up. Steve Beshear is the Kentucky governor. Bunning is the Fed. judge (appointed by GWB).
Gov. Beshear will not call special session to discuss Davis’ duties as clerk

It is interesting that Bunning cannot fire her, and neither can her county commissioners. I believe she will draw a paycheck whether she is in the office or not. And what if she refuses to resign, and the electorate reelect her?
I believe Gentry is from the Berea, Kentucky area.
Coincidentally Berea looks to be about an hour from Moorehead in Rowan County.
Why make the trip?
She might get re-elected, and not just because of her convictions. Simply, people need her — no one will take her place.
These crackpot liberals don’t realize how much gays won the battle but lost the war. Once they end up driving away everyone conservative in civil service, no one will be running these offices. The only ones left will be those old enough to bite the bullet until retirement. The younger people will not replace them. They will be too busy goofing off at the Burning Man festival to be bothered.
I see this at the liberal religious denominations (oxymoron?) — in Judaism, anyway. The older crowd — those with any sense of tradition or commitment — is keeping them on life support. The younger ones are too narcissistic or decadent to care.
The Kentucky county might find someone more “progressive” to replace Ms. Davis, but only for a few years. It’s not just the system that collapses — the solid individuals who run it will disappear.
Curious is Paul doing more then issuing talking points? I know Huckabee has a rally to support Kim planned for Tuesday, is Paul going to be there? TIA
I wish someone would do a study of gay marriage. What if these things last the weekend? Posure?
He might be right.
