With shackles around her ankles and waist, this is the moment the defiant Kentucky clerk who is refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses was led away from federal court - and taken to jail.
Kim Davis, 49, was told by U.S. District Judge David Bunning on Thursday that she would stay behind bars until she complied with his order to resume issuing the licenses to gay couples.
Donning a blue top and striped skirt, Davis, a thrice-divorced Apostolic Christian who works at Rowan County Courthouse, said 'thank you' before being led from the courtroom by a marshal.
She later insisted that she would not accept a compromise that would allow her out of jail. Attorneys for the plaintiffs had proposed to the court that Davis be freed if she promised not to interfere with her deputies. But Davis refused - noting her name would still be on the licenses.

The Terri Schiavo situation comes to mind. Like Jeb Bush, the governor of Kentucky fails to uphold the laws of his own state.

There is one thing that I haven’t seen posted about this. Suppose the official had been of the Muslim faith. We know what that religion thinks of homosexuality. Would such a person have been jailed? No way in hell. Christians are always persecuted.

The supremes cannot make decisions against States when it is the States that really hold sovereignty over the Federal Government Somebody get a memo out to the governors of all the states, including Kentucky) that had held the line on traditional marriage. (Be sure to include the dictionary definition of sovereignty.)

They really had to shackle her?
That's how cops are now.
"It's for her own protection" or "It's our policy" or some BS like that.
Citizens are the enemy, and cops have no mercy on them.

Unnecessary, would they be doing this to a defiant gay person who infringed on our rights? would they be doing this to a black person who refused to do the same? The least should have been to remove her from her position. they are sending us a message. The tolerant are the intolerant when they have the governments protection.

The judge in this case could have tossed the case out of court and simply said he has no authority to rule in a matter involving Kentucky law and administrative oversight of a public official who works under the state laws of Kentucky.
I have said all along that she should resign, but she certainly doesn't belong in jail without any criminal charges and a trial by jury.
I think you're going to see a lot of backpedaling by the plaintiffs and the groups supporting them in this case, because the whole scenario where you have this harmless woman in jail exposes this nation's entire governing process as a complete fraud.

Shackled? That is crazy.
Was Corzine shackled for his crimes? He stole billions.
Justice for the little people...

It's better that he sent her to jail and didn't fine her. If he just imposed excessive fines he would have just bankrupted her and kept her in financial trouble in perpetuity.
Putting her in jail turns her into a martyr ... and does it at the taxpayers' expense.

Should all Christians be forced to resign their jobs, or it just the government you want purged?

Letter from a Birmingham Jail lays out "how to" commit civil disobedience, and the point is, you want to be arrested, that brings the issue to the forefront and the front page.

There was no trial by jury, so this is illegal. We live in a fascist dictatorship. No more land of the free.
Answer me this. Would a ROP’er be shackled and thrown in jail?

I don't want anyone "purged" at all. I would rather see her state simply eliminate any formal recognition of marriage. Give to Caesar what is Caesar's ... and one thing that doesn't belong to Caesar is the legal authority to license a religious sacrament.
When you live in Sodom or Gomorrah, there's no point in standing up for your rights as a government employee.

My point is that this would have gone on in perpetuity, and the money eventually would run out.
This is exactly why the plaintiffs in this case wanted the judge to issue fines, not impose a jail sentence. The fact that the judge imposed a penalty that goes beyond what the plaintiffs demanded makes me wonder if his whole point here is to expose the idiocy of the case the plaintiffs have brought.

P.S. I have said for years that Christians have no business in the U.S. armed forces -- and that Christian chaplains should: (1) counsel their pastoral charges to walk away from their jobs, and (2) set an example by doing the same.
From God's perspective, this is no longer a nation worth defending.

We all need to do significant research, and boycott businesses owned by militant gays, and companies which support the homosexual agenda.
Let the faggots feel the wrath of $'s withheld by at least 50,000,000 christians.
