Gaydar ISN'T real: Scientists slam the phrase as stereotyping and say its use could lead to aggression
We've all heard people say they have a 'gaydar'.
It is the alleged ability to know whether someone is gay or straight based on their appearance.
The phrase Gaydar got a scientific boost from a 2008 study that concluded people could accurately guess someone's sexual orientation based on photographs of their faces.
But a new study challenges what it calls the 'the gaydar myth', saying it isn't accurate and is actually a harmful form of stereotyping.

And trying to fly under the gayer.
Should be gaydar.
And trying to fly under the gaydar!
If your gaydar does go out, scientist have development the FAGGOT FACTOR, where Dangle Angle is inversely proportioal to the square inches of female clothing times the female hotness number.
Every now and then someone my gaydar tells me is not gay turns out to be gay, but my gaydar never lets me know down when it’s telling me someone is gay.
>>> ..... based on their appearance
The premise of theie study is faulty.
My gaydar does not base on appearance alone.
Those same ‘scientists’ change their white lab coats to blue ones after Labor Day.
STOLEN!
Try that “gaydar” shit on me and I’ll kick your f*cking ass all the way from here to f*cking Uranus!
First day at a new job one of the other employees set it off.
A few weeks later someone mentioned his wife and children.
Thought, "ok bit surprised."
About a year after that.... "Did you hear _____ is leaving his wife and moving in with his boyfriend?"
Spot on.
I have missed a few that I would have sworn were straight that turned out to be homosexual but have yet to find one that was homosexual who turned out to be straight.
There is just something about the way they look at you when you are female. The more militant they turn out to be the more prominent the something.
Gaydar was invented by gays, not straights, so accuse them of stereotyping. Actually, what they really do, is basically accuse all straights of being suppressed homosexuals.
I sometimes wonder how people with “gaydar” know so much about being gay.
There lies the problem: Gaydar involes more than just appearances; rather, it evaluates the entire package.
The wife and I use it a lot.....we’re more right than wrong.
My Gaydar got pegged out over Professor William Cox.
Just sayin’!
If gaydar fails there is always the stink of petuli oil and Vaseline.
...if only Lindsey Graham had the courage of Caitlyn Jenner.
If your gaydar is broken due to off the scale readings you may need a Liberace recalibration.
:: all the way from here to f*cking Uranus! ::
Maybe that’s the “re-calibration” process?
[snicker]
just curious...in your life experience, have you ever known anyone who you and others thought was gay, but turned out not to be?
I can’t say that I have. It always turns out to be correct in my life experience.
