EXCLUSIVE: Trump will sign GOP loyalty pledge
Politico ^ | 09/03/2015 | Mike Allen

A close associate tells POLITICO that Donald Trump plans to sign a loyalty pledge Thursday that would bind him to endorse the Republican nominee, and would preclude a third-party run. Trump made the stunning decision, which he has long resisted, to avoid complications in getting listed on primary ballots, and to take away an attack line in the next debate, the associate said.

Trump, who has led the GOP field in poll after poll, has long viewed the threat of a third-party candidacy as priceless leverage – and even used that word when he refused to take such a pledge in the first debate, on Aug. 6.

Will GoPe sign loyal pledge to support Trump if he’s the nominee? I highly doubt it

The author of “The Art of the Deal” will have an “OUT” clause, in the event that the gOpee does not hold up their end of the bargain.

sign loyal pledge to support Trump ...

What's this about support... GOPe probably would not even vote for him.

Have ANY of the other Republican Candidates, including Jeb Bush, also signed or will sign one?

I think it’s a good deal for Trump who is on the way to winning the nomination unless he really stumbles in the next few months, which is about as likely as Rosie O’Donnel endorsing him. Then it leaves the GOPe in the position of having to throw it’s entire support to him with Trump in control of all the strings.

I understand all the concern about Trump walking into a trap and having the GOPe double-cross him. At the end of the day this all boils down to one question: Does Donald Trump have any experience in negotiating hard for his best interests?

Hell yes he does!

Smart move on his part. A third party run would guarantee a Dem win.

I think he will be ok doing this, because he’s got such a plurality now, even the cold fish GOPe won’t be able to stop him unless they kill him.

At this point, I think Jeb is out. He might come in second in Florida’s primary, and get third-place out of five states, but his primary election is over. I see three or four people getting one or two states each, and Trump carrying the remainder. The convention will be mostly about the super-delegates and they play their game.

They probably wasted a thousand man-hours playing out analysis and polls to figure the GOP loyalty pledge gimmick, and Trump simply said sure....because he knows he’s got forty states in the bag now.

...

I don’t think Trump will sign unless he gets something in return. He knows how to make a favorable contract for himself.

*****************
And will the GOP sign a loyalty pledge to its voter base? Will it commit to achieving RESULTS to advance important elements of the conservative agenda? I highly doubt that it will.

Exactly. And look who he is negotiating with, a bunch of bozos. There is no way Trump will allow himself to take the short end of the stick on this despite what the media may report.

I agree. Trump is three moves ahead and all the GOPe has is a lack of Pepto Bismol.

Yep. He takes that issue off the table...and
shows once again, he is serious about being President.

A top Republican source further explained Trump’s logic: He thinks he could very well be the nominee. And with the pledge in place, the other candidates would have to support him.

Smooth, baby, smooth!

Priebus is only trying to get control over Trump. Its just a sleazy tactic by the GOP to start the process of managing him.
