Will Mitt Romney Jump In?

As Jeb Bush struggles to carry the establishment mantle, some wonder whether the time is right for Mitt

There is on the edge of the spectrum a thought awakening that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who ran for President in 2008 and 2012, might get back in the race. It comes naturally to think so. Before the race got seriously underway Mr. Romney met with Jeb Bush to consider their fates. Mr. Romney’s wife Ann went so far back then as to suggest on Cavuto that If Jeb ran, Mitt would stay out, as they both represented a similar center of establishment principles and would appeal to the same donor base. This past week, three of Mr. Bush’s key advisors have slipped away as Mr. Trump has made unprecedented advances in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, the three states, as former Governor of Texas Rick Perry has said recently, where the race to 2016 is to be won. As Mr. Trump rises, and the Real Clear Politics current average has him ahead of the pack in New Hampshire at 28.3 percent, he rises at the expense of Mr. Bush, who is at nine percent in the same poll. So as the “establishment” candidate, Mr. Bush, is suddenly being viewed as circling the drain, the frantic call goes out to Mr. Romney to enter and save the day. Read more at: http://tr.im/MgH4D

If Romney jumps in he will regard it in his next biography as his “biggest mistake.”

Don’t discount that built 20% to 25% Mormon vote that will go to Romeny. The Mormons will be all in as they were last time, and I think they will double-up this time. This was beautifully clear in our Nevada caucus and I am quite certain behind the scenes it was exactly the same in every other primary and caucus (despite the best efforts of the young enthusiastic Ron Paul supporters.) The Mormons were everywhere, controlling everything. I saw that at our county and state conventions as well.

If you do not unite behind one candidate then Romney could very well sail through to the nomination gathering enough delegates along the way, plus the super delegates owned by the GOPe. Remember that though the early primaries delegates are allocated via percentages the later primaries are winner take all, and Romney could pull it off again with his pluralities.

Again, the ONLY way to stop this is that if Romney gets in is to coalesce around the top candidate to make sure he wins every primary by at least 50%. That means giving up your favorite candidate and going with Donald Trump, who is the only one big enough to stop Romney, and who can also win the general (we know that Romney can’t.)

What a Romney nomination will do is keep the GOPe in place, and allow them to continue to disenfranchise and betray the people who elected them. So if Romney announces, forget Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Scott Walker, Carly Fiona, et al, and make the decision as to whether you want Trump or you want Romney, those will be your choices, your ONLY choices.

That means you too Nick Carraway! All those things you don’t like about Trump are double for Romney!

Mitt missed his time slot 4 years ago when he wimped out on hitting King Obama hard.

With 15 candidates in the race....maybe more....why would anyone think the time is right for Romney? (and I supported him in 2012) I wonder just who it is that keeps putting this crap out there, hoping some sucker's head will explode.

Wait I think I have it. GOPe rolls out Romney 2.0 and say hey look he is really rich too...and he has experience. The meme I have seen and heard all day is that we are just about to come to our senses. They really don’t understand that half of us have lit matches and the other half are carrying gas cans. We will not play by the nice rules anymore.

It’s laughable and actually proves one important thing.

The writer has no idea why Trump is as popular as he is.

Does he think Trump is just hanging around, waiting to be bested?

And most importantly, does he think, seriously, the people who are for Trump will drop all of that if Mitt pitches in his hat?

Further proof the Elitists don’t have a clue about us. To them, we’re just a bunch of racist hicks in flyover country. I hope they keep believing that, right up until we come to Washington, kick down their doors, and drag them out into the streets by their collars (among other things I won’t say but am thinking...).

That’s right!

Perhaps since Jeb is not flying, Hillary appears to be going down, and now the desperate Establishment is rolling Romney back out.

They must have privately through assessment figure that Trump is probably going to win unless they can pull a rabbit out of their bag of tricks.

Romney is a loser.

Isn't there any way they can convince McCain to run?

Thanks for really horrible glimpse of what could happen. You know they will shove mittens right up our collective butt and assume that we will “coalesce” if we give an inch.

I stayed home.

Quite frankly, I’d rather see Hillary win than see the country saddled with another RINO loser.

What’s the difference?

“In 2012, I held my nose so hard while voting for Romney, ....”

Me too, and millions of conservatives didn’t vote at all.

Give it up, Mitt!

His wife doesn’t want him to run, so maybe he won’t.
