A massive explosion has ripped through a region in China.
Bright flames and black smoke were seen from what is thought to be a chemical factory this evening.
The explosion was seen and heard in the industrial zone of Lijin, Dongying City of Shandong, just before 11.30pm local time.
It is not yet known if there are any injuries or fatalities.
The explosion was reported by the People's Daily newspaper - the Communist Party-owned publication.
No further details have yet been released.
The blast comes just a fortnight after another huge explosion in the country killed dozens and injured hundreds.

Sure is curious. 3 warehouses, 3 nasty explosions in a short time span. Makes one wonder, could it be a traveling pyromaniac? Or a commonplace compound found in storage, gone unstable? Worker error x3, doubtful. Damn good conversation fuel for conspiracy theorists everywhere.
Two sources for the today’s explosion:
The Twitter account for People’s Daily reported Monday night’s explosion, as did state radio. Dongying’s population is about two million.

If one was trying to pick a fight with China?
I’m surprised that no one has quoted Goldfinger.
“Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it’s enemy action’.
Insiders warning Xi to back off with the anti-corruption and privatizations. It’s not to hard to blow up a chemical plant with a well timed car bomb or ignition source. Xi has made many enemies.
Chinese elite politics is pure cut throat and sometimes life and death.
A good friend of mine works for Dow Agrosciences. He says they are getting killed by cheap Chinese fertilizers being dumped on the American market.
That is funny because Dow is heavy invested overseas and in the left hip pocket of the Obama administration.
I guess Dow gets what they support.....
they simply have so many “workers”...that they don’t care at all about the safety of any of them...or the safety of the people they sell their junk to.
“Someone set us up the bomb?”
I think debt-forgiveness in China comes at the end of a rope.
A depiction of what they might look like.
Good question. That explosion must have wiped it right off the map...
Are we dangerous here ?
It depends.
Are those 50 N. Korean submarines still missing?
Big Media had no interest. Last report of that looks to be about 6 days old.
Yes, that’s very weird.
Here is another report which also says 1 person is dead.

Here is an early report of Images for Lijin/Shandong. As you go down the list, most are still for last month’s Tianjin disaster, but keep going back, and also look for some maps to show up, which will show location.
And here is one with a lot of Comments with all kinds of conspiracy theories and other links.
sorry for being obtuse
I made a URL link in my earlier post to the map I found on-line illustrating where Shandong is. It’d be silly to simply post a question that can be quickly answered with BING.
