The U.S. Supreme Court this week faces the first religious objection to reach the justices since the decision declaring a constitutional right to same-sex marriage.
A county clerk in Kentucky is asking for relief from a lower court order directing her to issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples. Her lawyers filed an emergency application directed to Justice Elena Kagan, who handles such requests from that part of the country.

Futility, thy name is Kagan.
Kagan won’t care about her religious rights.
SCOTUS will effectively neuter the First Amendment.
Can’t have silly 200 year old rules getting in the way of social justice.
And the 2nd Amendment is next.
The 2nd Amendment guarantees the rest - Davis needs a large, heavily armed security detail (Kentucky militia, where are you?) to protect her from any and all who would suggest they have some imagined right to deprive her of her religious liberties, come what may.
“Supreme Court to Act on Kentucky Gay Marriage Fight”
Oh.....joy.
Kagan has a personal agenda.
The pro-gay executive and judicial branches aren’t the real problem with respect to protecting constitutionally unprotected gay marriage imo. The real problem is the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification Senate that wont lift a finger to protect 10th Amendment-protected state sovereignty by working with the House to remove lawless presidents and activist justices from office.
Kagan needs to be removed by Congress. As do Ginsburg, Sotomayor, Breyer, Kennedy, and Roberts.
Their lawlessness is an offense to the Constitution, the States, and The People.
The next president will replace justices.
Lets hope it is not another McCain special dog and pony show.
People are going to have to be willing to go to jail in defiance.
There are God given natural rights and societal rights.
The Bill of Rights is a mixture of both. Most are societal rights.
Among recognized natural rights is the exercise of ones religion. We don’t have to have societal help to exercise natural rights. We are born with these. The natural right to marriage has been recognized since Adam and Eve. State marriage laws are intended to help its legal recognition and protection as a natural right.
OTOH, societal rights apply when people band together for the betterment of all. They require the help of, or the protection from, members of society. Trial by jury is an example of a societal right. Freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures is another.
Along comes Scotus. It made up a natural right between those of the same sex.
Scotus did not cross another line and make it a societal right, in which the exercise of this new right requires the assistance of others.
Junior federal courts have stepped in to introduce the outrage of fag marriage as a societal right, one that requires the assistance of others to be secured.
I say our national government not only doesn’t serve its intended purpose as per the Declaration; it works precisely against the tenets of free government.
It is time the tyrants fear for their personal well being.
Article V before we can’t.

Which is fine because the clerk can then appeal to the justice of his/her choice.
That's gonna do exactly zero bit of good. Go to jail? No.
Sorry but this Clerk can either do her job or be fired. If her religion prevents her from doin the job she should be fired. I think the gay marriage ruling is bs but the idea that she won’t do the job she is paid for because of her religion means she can’t do the job she is paid for and should be fired.
The Lord sometimes asks that level of proof of one’s convictions.
However even the rabid may not want to open that can of worms. They might be satisfied to see her fired or reassigned, not personally forced under pain of criminal penalty which would drum up a lot of sympathy.
Do you want to be the firer? How would you imagine that will look before God?
Also consider that her job got wrenched from one of innocuousness to that of wickedness.
