It was a rarity that Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump didnt appear on Sundays morning talk shows, but his presence was felt nonetheless, prompting the other GOP candidates to make the case that they remain relevant despite sagging support.
Introducing Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, NBCs Meet the Press host Chuck Todd summarized the mood of the GOP race this past week: [Mr. Walker] was supposed to be the favorite in the race for some, the conservative Republican from a blue state, who beat the unions and got things done. But like so many of the Republican candidates right now, Walker has been swept away by the Trump storm.
Mr. Walker responded that in October 2007, President Barack Obama was running far behind Hillary Clinton, and went on to win. I think the biggest spark for us is getting the message out that nows not the time to put in place someone who hasnt been tested before.
Mr. Walker repeatedly denied that Mr. Trumps success has caused him to shift gears: In recent days, hes been criticized for moving to the right of his past positions on issues like same-sex marriage, the death penalty, and immigration.

He’s living rent-free in their heads 24/7 just like Palin!
The cesspool will never be cleaned up.
The advantage of a guy like Trump is he knows how to divert the sewage into useful directions.
That’s poor lost Mittens!
Ask yourself why the MSM is giving Trump so much coverage and ignoring the real issues. If they really did not like Trump, they would not give him so much coverage.
It’s all part of the sham.
I’m interested in all his comments, if simply to see if he can out stupid his last one. The man is on a roll...
Yep. That Jorge Ramos is literally crazy about Trump...and so is Megyn Kelly.
If they really did not like Trump, they would not give him so much coverage.I thought they liked Jeb.
Its all part of the sham. It's all about the ratings because really who wants to be put to sleep by a sleepy eyed, lawyer that looks like he's just been scolded for something?
Besides, they might get accused of asking a MSM liberal question that he stumbles over the answer to.
He’s even gotten inside my leftist minister’s head. She told us today that she doesn’t like him at all. I’m a Cruz man first, but my minister just gave a great endorsement.
You are clever with words!
Why was Kelly not hosting her show yesterday? Another vacation?
And in the end, they hop on the bandwagon and pretend they've been saying the same thing all along.
Her show is only M - F, not Saturday, AFAIK.
This is very true. The media is drowning out the other candidates. This is one thing that still bothers me about all of this. The media in essence is helping Trump’s campaign at this point. That is very odd.
Good one!
Oops sorry, I meant on Friday. I was on travel all day yesterday and never watched TV lol. I am retired and lose track of which day it is!!
But, most of the coverage isn’t positive. The majority still despise him. He’s good for ratings and that’s all they care about.
Agree....they all do try to hop on to the bandwagon and claim they’ve been saying the same thing, all along.
But, Trump keeps swatting them off.
I do that, too. And, I’m not even retired..so, I don’t have that as an excuse :-/
It still makes me leery. I suspect you’re right. But wasn’t it Chuck Todd himself who said something in a round table of his fellow “journalists” that the more they talk about Trump the stronger he gets?
They’re still talking about him, and he’s seemingly getting stronger. I even saw, just saw a post at the Independent Journal Review that said the previous upside down favorability ratings for Trump are now right side up-at least in Iowa. More people in Iowa now view him favorably than unfavorably.
So really there’s only two options here. Either the media isn’t that stressed out by the thought of a Trump presidency because there’s some aspect of it they still don’t take seriously-which is actually still my theory.
Or, he is indeed that much in their heads and even though they know they shouldn’t give him so much free publicity, they can’t help but do so.
I truly do hope if he is in fact elected that it’s the latter and not the former.
It wasn’t like this in the beginning. They were all making fun of him. I suspect they think he has a good chance of winning and they want to play nice with the future president if they don’t want locked out of interviews. Remember the Des Moines Register dust up? He goes after them with a venegeance and they are helpless.
